2020-2021 Ranger Partial Program

The Rangers will be competing in the Mason Dixon Wrestling League (MDWL)and TOP's Winter Wrestling Series for the 202-21 season as well as participating in several other dual event opportunities for both beginner and experienced wrestlers. --- IMPORTANT - Before beginning the registration process, please weigh your child and make sure a credit card is handy. Accurate ages, weights and other data is important for the coaching staff to plan practice rooms for the season.

The MDWL is a youth (up to 14 years old) amateur wrestling league in the NOVA and 66 corridor area. The MDWL consists of ~18 teams that practice and compete during the winter months. Most teams are active from the beginning of November through early March. Among other things the League strives to prepare wrestlers for high school wrestling and teaching good sportsmanship. Weight classes are determined using the madison system. All teams participate in dual meets by age group during the season and finish with the MDWL League Championships at the end of the season. Wrestlers are required to qualify for the season ending tournament by participating in at least 4 of the 8 sanctioned events.

In early March the MDWL League Championship tournament is held. The tournament team champions and the top six wrestlers in the MDWL Championships at each weight class receive awards.

As wrestlers advance in MDWL and other competition, they will be encouraged to compete in high level open tournament competition at the State, Regional and National levels.

Competition in TOP's Winter Wrestling Series (WWS) is also offered with Ranger enrollment.  WWS events are held locally in Sterling and all events feature differnet themes. This offering is great for both beginners and experienced wrestlers alike.
