2020 Coach Registration

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE REGISTERING

As coaches, assistant coaches, team managers and program administrators, it is critical that we all work diligently to uphold and insure that the leagues’ policies and guidelines are followed.  This includes certifications of all coaches, assistant coaches and team managers in the area of background checks (risk management) and concussion training (health management).   For the safety of the children and to mitigate risk for you and the IHRC, it is MANDATORY that each and every coach (head and assistant) and team manager complete their background check and concussion training before stepping onto the field.

STEP ONE - RISK ASSESSMENT / BACKGROUND CHECK

You must have a valid background check through the NSCI system in order to coach for Indian Hill Recreation Commission. The NSCI background checks are valid for three years.

  1. If you have had a background check for another IHRC sport in the past 3 years, you are good to go. Please scroll down to Step Two.
  2. If you are new to coaching at IHRC and have not had an NSCI background check performed, please register here at the main IHRC website before completing the Soccer Coaching registration below.

STEP TWO - CONCUSSION TRAINING CERTIFICATION
PLEASE NOTE:

All Coaches MUST complete Concussion Training and provide a pdf copy of their completion certificate within this registration & certification process. You will not be able to complete the registration without one.

  1. If you previously completed concussion training for an IHRC sport during the past two years, you need only provide a pdf copy of your training certificate of completion where requested within the registration and indicate the date of completion. Your concussion training is good for two years from the date of completion.
  2. If you have not completed concussion training - BEFORE you enter this registration program, please make sure you have completed one of the following free training options and saved the final certificate of completion to pdf.  You  will need the pdf file to complete your registration:

This online course will require you to click on the "order here” button to begin the training. It will ask you to complete a brief registration form prior to beginning the course, which is solely for the purpose of registering you in their data base as having successfully completed the online material. After you have completed this course you will be given the option to print out a personalized certificate of completion (It is suggested that this certificate by printed out in pdf format, otherwise your name may not appear on this certificate).

Click on the online training course button to begin your training. After successfully completing the on-line training, you will be offered a an opportunity to print out a personalized "certificate of completion”. FYI - this option does not keep a record of your completing this training.

After completing either the FIRST OR SECOND APPROVED OPTION, you will need to print out your personalized "certificate of completion” and keep a copy with you at ALL SAY related functions as you may be required to show your personalized certificate to the appropriate SAY authorities.

STEP THREE

All coaches will be required, as by Ohio State Law to complete the training for Lindsay's Law. The new law is bring awareness and education regarding sudden cardiac death in athletes.

Please go to the Ohio Department of Health website below (cut and paste into your browser if the link is not active) and complete the course.  You can then email a copy of your completed certificate to ihrecsoccer@gmail.com.

STEP FOUR

All coaches are now required by US Soccer / SAY and OSYSA to complete federal SafeSport Training.  Training instructions are included in the registration process.  Training will take up to two hours.

STEP FIVE

All coaches are required to attend the coaches meeting.  The time will be announced with respect to the group and season you are coaching.  This meeting will provide you with the information you need to coach within our leagues. It will also gain you access to your team websites and rosters.
