Seventh and Eighth Grade Registration
Parents: We are in need of coaching volunteers for this age group. Please consider volunteering to be a Head Coach or Assistant Coach this season. The success of our club depends on volunteers. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
This program has two teams according to skill level of the players (A and B).
If your player wants to be considered for the A team, she must attend at least one evalution and be committed to make most practices and all games.
Information: The Season runs from March to the end of May. This year we will be introducing winter practices to introduce new players to the sport and work on specific skills for those return players.
PRACTICES AND GAMES: The 7/8 practices are held one to two nights a week in Carpenter Park (practice nights will be determined by the coaches and weather permitting).
Each team will play 6 to 8 regular season games and one Playday. MOST games will be on Saturday mornings with a possible Friday night or Sunday afternoon game.
UNIFORMS: Each player will be given a uniform for the season which consists of a reversible jersey and skirt. Uniforms will be collected at the end of the season.
To ensure a prompt return of uniforms, a $100 deposit check will be collected when we hand out uniforms. This is separate from registration. Your coach will send out a notice when uniforms will be distributed.
Your check will be held until your players uniform is returned at the end of the season. Please make every effort to RETURN the uniform promptly so our volunteers do not have to chase it down when the season is over. THANK YOU!
GEAR: Your player will be required to have a Womens Lacrosse Stick, solid colored mouthguard (no white or clear), ASTM approved 3077 eyewear (goggles) and a water bottle for every practice and game. Cleats are preferred but not required.
HGLC follows the PAGLA East rules and directives, which adopts most US Lacrosse rules and regulations.
The players are on a full field of 12v12 with goalies and continues with the Modified Check Rule (checking below the shoulder).
The 7/8s will focus on improving fundamental skills and will learn offensive and defensive strategies, progressing to fine-tune the fundamentals, on and off ball movement and developing lacrosse IQ.
Please note that at this level player participation is strongly encouraged.
Coaches for both teams are committed to providing players with organized practices and count on a full roster for games. Player attendance is strongly recommended for the benefit of player and team improvement.
