2019-2020 Mite Travel Team Tryouts

Travel hockey for Players Ages 6 through 8.�

This registration is for Mite aged players that would like to try out for our 2019-2020 Mite Travel Teams.

Warm Up Sessions:
Sunday, September 8 from 2:40 pm to 3:40 pm
Tuesday, September 10 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, September 13 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Wednesday, September 18 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, September 20 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Goalie clinic:� Friday, September 20 from 6:10 pm to 7:10 pm
(Mite, Squirt, and PeeWee goalies)
Tryouts:
Monday, September 23 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Wednesday, September 25 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Thursday, September 26 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Program Description:� All Mite age players are encouraged to register and tryout for the Mite travel teams.� The Mite travel teams will have two practices during the week and two games on the weekends.� The Mite travel teams will also play in the Avon Hockey�Thanksgiving Tournament and the Newport Christmas Tournament.

Tryouts shall consist of skill evaluation in the areas of skating, passing and receiving, stick handling, shooting, play making, and stamina.� Goaltenders will be evaluated in the areas of skating, movement, angling, making saves and puck control.� Players may also be evaluated in scrimmages or game situations to determine positional play and competitiveness.� The selection process is led by our Coaching Directors with input from the Evaluators and�Division Directors.� Prior year coach evaluations may also apply where appropriate.� There will be the opportunity to attend warmup sessions prior to tryouts.� These sessions are only for those registered for tryouts.

2019 Fall Learn to Skate (LTS) - October

Learn to Skate for Children 4 and Older.  This registration is for the Learn to Skate Program.  You will be required to enter a valid USA Hockey confirmation number during the process, which will confirm that the player is registered with USA Hockey.  Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com.  For registrants under 6, there are no USA Hockey or Affiliate fees however registration is still required.


Fall 2019 Sessions dates:

Program Description: Our Learn to Skate program is an ideal way to introduce your youngster to ice skating.  This program will consist of 3 separate on-ice sessions with the primary focus being that of developing an interest in on-ice activities with the possible future migration into an organized ice hockey program.  This program is primarily for non-skaters and most of the time will be spent developing skating through fun and games.  The program includes: SKATES, HELMET and GLOVES (yours to keep) and 3 sessions of ice time.

2019-2020 Developmental Program (DP)

Developmental Program. This registration is for the Developmental Program.�¿½ You will be required to enter a valid USA Hockey confirmation number during the process, which will confirm that the player is registered with USA Hockey.�¿½ Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com.�¿½ There are no USA Hockey or Affiliate fees for registrants age 6 or younger,
but registration is still required.

Program Description:�¿½ The program is designed to continue to help your youngster develop his/her skating skills and introduce them to the great sport of ice hockey.�¿½ Our highly qualified instructors teach your child through a series of drills in a fun and energetic environment.�¿½ Our program consists of skill stations where small groups are rotated through varying drills so our instructors can help anyone who needs reinforcement.

Weekend sessions will generally alternate between 7:00 am and 8:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

2019-2020 Mite In-House Program (MIH)

Recreational Hockey for Players Ages 5 Through 8.  This registration is for the Mite In House program.  You will be required to enter a valid USA Hockey confirmation number during the process, which will confirm that the player is registered with USA Hockey.  Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com.

Program Description: Our In-House program is designed for youngsters who have completed the ACFYHA Developmental (or have equivalent experience) who want to continue to develop their skills. Participants will have approximately two (2) hour long sessions per week.  The in-house program is for second year skaters and organized to give every child interested in ice hockey a chance to play. This program is designed to focus on continued skill development through small area games while providing opportunities to play hockey in a cross ice setting. Teamwork, sportsmanship, and the development of self-esteem are stressed.

Weekend sessions will generally alternate between 7:00 am and 8:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

2019-2020 Squirt/PeeWee/Bantam In-House Program

Recreational Hockey for Players Ages 9 Through 14.  This registration is for the Squirt/PeeWee/Bantam In-House program.  You will be required to enter a valid USA Hockey confirmation number during the process, which will confirm that the player is registered with USA Hockey.  Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com.

Program Description:  Our In-House program is designed for youngsters who have completed the ACFYHA Developmental and Mite In-House Program (or have equivalent experience) who want to continue to develop their skills and get real game experience without committing to extensive travel and expense.  The Program is primarily geared toward Squirt aged children (ages 9 and 10) although Peewee and Bantam aged children aged 11 through 14 who wish to return to hockey or continue to develop their skills may be eligible.  Participants will have approximately three hour long sessions per week – approximately one full ice game (with referees) per week, one cross ice game per week, and one skill-building practice per week.  Skill building will include power skating, basic and intermediate hockey skills, stickhandling, shooting, passing, positions, rules, and teamwork.  Weekend sessions will generally start at ~9am on Saturday and Sunday with one practice during the week.

The program starts in October and will continue through the first weekend of March.

2019-2020 Coach/Manager/Volunteer/Board Member Registration

2019-2020 Coaches, Managers, and Volunteers:  This registration is for all coaches, team managers, and volunteers (including Board Members) for the 2019-2020 season.  You must submit your 2019-2020 USA Hockey Confirmation Number.  Coaches:  you will also be asked for your Coach's Certification.  There is no cost for a USA Hockey number for Team Managers/Volunteers/Board Members.  Go to www.usahockeyregistration.com to get your current 2019/2020 number, as it is required to complete this registration.  Coaches  & Assistant Coaches -- You MUST complete this registration prior to your first practice.

For the 2019-2020 season:

  • All coaches (including In House coach volunteers) must complete the SafeSport Training -- this is REQUIRED for the 2019/2020 season.  You will not be rostered on the team until your SafeSport Training is completed.
  • All Team Managers, Board Members, and Locker Room Monitors must complete the SafeSport training.
  • If you completed the SafeSport Training for 2018-2019, it is valid for two years.
  • Beginning on April 1, 2019, the SafeSport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for one season.  Due to updated content, anyone due to retake SafeSport Training will need to complete the new Core SafeSport Training before being eligible to complete the Refresher course.

  • All coaches, and volunteer personnel (officers, board members, team managers, locker room monitors) must submit to a background screening.
  • Coaches & volunteer personnel who were screened last season (2018-2019) do not have to be screened.
  • All those required to be screened MUST submit their information themselves.

USA Hockey requires that locker rooms be monitored at all times when players are present, by a screened adult.

2019-2020 U14 Bantam B Commitment

Commitments are due by May 7, 2019

 

The APPROXIMATE cost for the U14 Bantam B season is $2400.  

The $250 paid for tryouts will be applied to this fee, as well as the $400 commitment fee.  This year's program fee will again include the cost for our Thanksgiving Tournament, an additional Tournament and the State Tournament.

You will need to complete a COMMITMENT LETTER.

You will need to complete a CODE OF CONDUCT form.

You will need to complete a CONSENT TO TREAT form.

Please read these documents carefully, and email me with any questions. Please complete these documents and submit electronically by 5/7/2019.

If you did not play for Avon Youth Hockey last season, you will need to get a RELEASE from your previous program.  Please contact the registrar of that program, and have them release you to Avon Hockey.
