Blue Wave Buddies Boys (1st and 2nd Grade)--Spring 2020

The Blue Wave Buddies program is our introduction to lacrosse for 1st and 2nd graders.  The emphasis is on fun and learning the game in a safe, supportive environment.  Clinics will be held once a weekend in the late afternoon at DHS. Eighth graders will assist the coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport.

Boys 3rd/4th Grade--Spring 2020

The Boys 3rd/4th DYL League program will consist of practices in a clinic format on Fridays, with games on Saturdays and Sundays. We will focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun environment.  The games will be 7 on 7 on a shortened field. The benefit of this format is that it will maximize the number of "touches" that each player has with the ball, thereby improving skill development.

Boys 5th/6th Grade--Spring 2020

The 5th/6th DYLA League is an in-house program consisting of clinics and league play.  Clinics will be held on Wednesday evenings during the week and full-field games played on Saturday and Sunday.  The emphasis of this program is on basic skill development, learning the full field game (including team offense and defense as well as the rules), teamwork and having fun.  In addition, 5th and 6th grade boys will have the option to try out for a travel team.  Travel is in addition to DYLA League play and is intended for those players who just can't get enough lacrosse, and who are willing to make lacrosse their priority in the spring.  All travel players must attend DYLA League clinics and games.  There will be a supplemental fee of $200 per player for all travel players, which will be payable upon the completion of tryouts.  Please pay close attention to the Travel Commitment at the end of the Code of Conduct form in the registration.

All teams in the 7th and 8th grade are travel teams.  There will be A and B teams in each 7th and 8th grade, and combined Senior 7/8 team.   Practices, home and away games and jamborees/tournaments will be scheduled for all teams.  Team placement and playing time will be based upon the 3 "A's":  Attitude, Aptitude and Attendance.  DYLax expects that if you play on one of the A or B travel teams, you will make lacrosse your priority this spring.  Please pay close attention to the Travel Commitment at the end of the Code of Conduct form in the registration.  For those players who do not want to make lacrosse their top priority, the Senior 7/8 program allows more flexibility with regards to attendance.
