FALL REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY!!!

BASEBALL FAMILIES

(Only select programs are open at this time)

Registration is open to those players entering 3rd through 7th grade during the 2022-2023 school year.  If your child is in 8th grade, we have reached out to a local league, and will share news soon. For players grade 2 and below, information about baseball and tee ball will also be shared soon.

In the past, to avoid making cuts, SYBSA has looked to place more than one team in a division. When this effort falls short and we don't have enough players to make two or more teams, we are faced with teams that are over-enrolled, leaving a tough situation in which players battle for playing time, and coaches struggle to manage line-ups and practice plans. Given this, we have made a first-come, first-served registration for this fall.

The first 13 players who sign up for each grade will be placed on that grade’s team; each player after that will be placed on a waiting list that we hope will grow to two teams--ideally, this number would be 22 or more, or 11 per team.  If we do make two teams at an age group, the hope will be that we can schedule them at opposite times so that players from one team can join another when players are unable to play/out of town.

SOFTBALL FAMILIES
Softball will participate in the Charles River Softball League in the fall season. The CRSL is a travel league that includes other nearby towns such as Norwood, Dedham, Lexington, Medfield, Milton, Natick, Needham, Waltham, Watertown, Wellesley and the areas of Boston that comprise the Parkway Girls Softball League. The season is 5-6 weeks starting after Labor Day.  Games are played as double headers on Sunday mornings (9 a.m. and 11 a.m.) with the home team switching for each game. Games have umpires, but there are no standings, and no playoffs in the CRSL. The emphasis is on allowing the girls an opportunity to extend their playing season and develop.

Once registration closes, and we have over 13 enrolled, we'll have a random selection for players assigned to combine with another town.

PLEASE NOTE: To make any season a reality we need many additional hands to help ensure that we are running a program that is safe for our players, families, and the larger community. Please consider signing yourself up as a volunteer when you sign up your child. If we are unable to get enough volunteers committed to helping us run this all-volunteer organization, we may have to limit what ages and/or programming we can offer. To safely run programming, volunteers must officially register so we can complete required safety checks and assign volunteers tasks. Please click HERE and sign up TODAY!

2022 Fall Baseball Registration - Ages 6-7

Our 6 & 7 year-olds Fall Ball sessions will be divided into separate age groups.

The 7 year-old section will balance drill sessions with gamelike scrimmages to increase player’s baseball IQ and physical skills.  Fall Ball’s objective is to best prepare them for upcoming spring evaluations.

The 6 year-old section will be skills focused.  Players will work to strengthen their ability to throw and catch with peers, while continuing to learn how to hit a pitched ball.  The program’s intent is to be a review for our coach pitch players from spring and an introduction to baseball for our graduating tee ballers.

The season begins on Sunday, 9/11 and continues till Sunday, 10/23. There will be 6 sessions - no baseball on 10/9 (long weekend).

Please reach out to ages 6-7 baseball coordinator Jerry Wright (jerrydwrightii@outlook.com) and VP of Baseball Kevin Collins (vpbaseball@sybsa.org) with any questions.

2022 Fall Tee-Ball Registration

Fall tee ball for 4 & 5-year olds will be held on Sundays at Deb Sampson.  Tee Ball will start by implementing our spring tee ball plan before slowly trickling in coach pitch and modified scrimmages.

The season opens on Sunday, 09/11/2022. The program meets on six Sundays, ending on 10/23.  There are no rain make up dates in the schedule. There is no tee ball/baseball on 10/9 (long weekend). Tee ball is one hour from 4-5:00.

The registration fee is $60.

A minimum of 10 registrants is required.  A refund will be issued for insufficient interest.

Please reach out to Kevin Collins, VP of Baseball, (vpbaseball@sybsa.org) or Matthew Lavatori (matthew.lavatori@gmail.com) to find out more about the coordinator expectations.
