Please read the entire description of the sport or event you are interested in as it will describe the age/grade restrictions and the necessary equipment needed to attend each program.
2023 Highlander Youth Tackle Football
2023 Highlander Youth Tackle Football (3rd - 8th Grade)
The program is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside students in grades 3-8. Players will be assigned to the following teams depending on grade:
Competitive levels with scorekeeping, playoffs, and a Super Bowl:
A Team – Grade 8
B Team – Grade 7
C Team – Grade 6
D Team – Grade 5
Instructional level – live games teaching fundamentals in a competitive environment:
E Team – Grades 3 & 4
The season will begin August 14th with summer practices Monday-Thursday evenings at Snyder Field. Practices are held 2-3 times per week once school begins. Teams will play a total of 8 regular season games – typically scheduled on Sundays. Other Key Dates:
November 4th or 5th: Playoffs (Levels A-D only)
November 11th or 12th: Super Bowl (Levels A-D only)
November 18th: All-Star Game (Level A only)
REGISTRATION FEE: $290
EARLY REGISTRATION (BEFORE JUNE 1st) FEE: $250
BHPAL will provide all the necessary equipment except for football cleats, an athletic supporter, and a mouth guard. BHPAL will also provide all practice uniforms and game pants.
Personalized game jerseys – required for first time players or returning players who need a larger size – will be ordered separately at a subsidized cost of $60.

Strong Girl Summer - 12 sessions - Strength and Conditioning for female athletes
STRONG GIRL SUMMER is here!
50 minute small group training sessions incorporating purposeful movements to increase strength, speed, power, agility, and conditioning. Exercises and mechanics in these sessions will help athletes maximize performance for their sport and help to prevent injuries. Through a positive and competitive environment, athletes will gain not only the physical skills essential for their sport, but the confidence and intrinsic motivation to carry over into everyday life.

Trainer Bio:
Haley Greczek is a former Division I student-athlete. She played field hockey at Rutgers University for 4 years, serving as captain her senior year. Throughout her time at Rutgers, she began coaching U12-U19 field hockey at the club level. After receiving her Masters Degree in education, Haley also served as an Assistant coach at the high school level. Haley currently coaches youth field hockey at the recreational, club, and private level.In addition to coaching, and is a certified personal trainer, group fitness, and spin instructor. Through her experience as a Division-I athlete and her knowledge as a fitness professional, Haley is devoted to educate, prepare and motivate young athletes to maximize their potential on and off the field.

Spring/Summer Wrestling (HS)
PAL Sponsored/Run Spring and Summer Wrestling Program. Program will consist of supervised "Open Mats" including guest instructor led technique. Cost includes open mats, optional dual meets in July and one optional tourney. Open to students attending GL in 2023-24 only.

2023 FALL Girls Field Hockey Travel (5th - 8th Grade)
The PAL Junior Highlanders Travel Field Hockey teams will be part of an instructional field hockey program, with a strong focus on skill development, all-player participation and fun. All ability levels are welcome, as well as girls who may participate in other Fall sports and dance. Since the sport is new to most, we plan to bring in outside resources to teach skills and drills during some of our practices.
The program is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside girls in grades 5-8* and season will run from early September until mid-November. We will be members of the Mid NJ Youth Field Hockey league, playing teams from Scotch Plains, Basking Ridge, Branchburg, Chatham, Glen Ridge, Madison, Millburn, Readington, and Hillsborough.
*any experienced 4th grade girls interested in playing on travel team should contact phouse@bhpal.org.
When: Sunday games with 2 practices each week
Where: Practices @ Snyder Mon/Wed 6:30-8pm

2023 Grapplers Wrestling Camp
Governor Livingston wrestling head coach Rick Ortega will be running his Grapplers Wrestling Camp again this summer!
The camp is open to kids entering 2nd to 9th grade for the 2023-24 school year.
Dates: July 10th-13th 2022
Time: 9am to 12pm
Location: Columbia Middle School - Blue Gym
Cost: $210 before 6/1, $220 after 6/1
Coach Ortega and his staff will provide high quality instruction to all participants. A low instructor to athlete ratio is maintained to ensure engagement of all participants. The camp is appropriate for wrestlers of any skill level. Beginners welcome and encouraged, there will also be technique applicable to advanced grapplers.
Registered participants will receive communication prior to the camp on what to bring.
**No experience required! Camp is open to non-residents.**

Coach Steve Hess-Head Coach for the Governor Livingston Volleyball Program. Lead our Varsity team to a State Sectional Title this past season! He also teaches Math at GL.
Coach Ally Dabroski-Assistant Coach for the Governor Livingston Volleyball & Softball Programs. Division 1 collegiate softball experience at Stony Brook University. Teaches Health & Physical Education at GL.
Coach Kelly McAdam-Assistant Coach for the Governor Livingston Volleyball Program. Division III collegiate volleyball experience at Centenary College. Paraprofessional at GL and a Berkeley Heights resident!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Hands on all day long! We explain and demonstrate for form and safety, but you'll be involved the whole session. You will be able to fine-tune skills that may have been "underused" in the offseason. Those new to the sport will benefit from the review of fundamentals and get an idea of what it's like to be involved in a positive team environment. Plenty of time for fun games, challenges, and court time. The spirit and enthusiasm in this session is one to beat!

WHAT TO BRING: Players should bring their own glove, helmet, and bat, along with a snack and plenty of water
OUR MISSION: To assist every player in developing their softball ability through various drills that will include defensive and individual position play, batting mechanics, baserunning, and competitive game activities and play.
Governor Livingston field hockey head coach Jackie Wells will be running her second annual Reaching Heights Field Hockey Camp this summer!
The camp is open to kids entering 2nd to 9th grade for the 2023-24 school year.

Reaching Heights Field Hockey Camp provides a safe, fun, and engaging experience for youth field hockey players to grow in skill and knowledge of the sport. Emphasis is placed on skill development, self-esteem, & team building, on and off of the field.
2023 FALL Girls Field Hockey Clinic (1st - 4th Grade)
The Junior Highlanders Field Hockey clinics, open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside kids in grades 1-4, will be part of an instructional field hockey program, with a strong focus on skill development, all-player participation and fun. All ability levels are welcome, as well as kids who may participate in other Fall sports and dance.
The program will run from early September until early November, and will feature weekly 1 hour practices that include drills, games and fun for all. If you have an experienced 4th grader interested in playing for the 5/6 travel team, please contact phouse@bhpal.org prior to registration.

Governor Livingston boys lacrosse head coach Michael Provenzano (Coach Mabuha) will be running camp again this summer!
