Learn to Play is a chance for children to try the sport of hockey. Children will be loaned gear for them to use for their six-session course of Learn to Play. Participants will learn the following hockey stance, how to wear their hockey gear, backward skating, hockey stops and so much more!
If your child has completed a course of Learn to Play or already knows how to skate, you are in the right place. If your child has never ice skated before, please put them on the Learn to Skate waitlist. To start this process, we ask everyone to put their name on the waitlist. The waitlist acts much like putting your name on the list with the hostess at a restaurant, and we invite children in the order they were put on the list.
Once Learn to Play registration opens, you will receive an email with a link to register. At this point, you will be asked to pay the Learn to Play cost of $100.00. Would you please not share your registration link with anyone? We have a set number of children that we can have in a course of Learn to Play. This is to ensure a good ratio of coaches to skaters. We will send registration links according to the waitlist until we reach that number.
All participants must wear appropriate hockey equipment at each practice. Loaner equipment is provided.Loaner equipment includes: USA Hockey approved helmet with face cage, shoulder pads, breezers (padded hockey shorts), gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, and ice hockey stick. Loaner skates are provided by the Pensacola Bay Center at each practice free of charge.
Mouth guard, neck protector, and athletic supporter (cup) are not provided.
If your child is over 10 please email registration@jriceflyers.com
