A Division (eligible ages 6 & 7, 1st graders, Coach Pitch)

The A division emphasizes fun and participation while also teaching and reinforcing fundamental skills. Coaches pitch to the batters and instruct the defensive players from the field. In games, outs will count, but each team will bat the entire line up when they are on offense. Players will typically have one practice and one game per week. Days and times TBA.

Season: The season will start 4/12 and end early to mid-June.

AA Division (eligible ages 7, 8 & 9, Coach Pitch)

The AA division continues to develop the players' skills and love for the game. Coaches pitch and to the batters and instruct the defensive players from the field. Players will play three out innings. Score is kept. Players will typically have one practice and one game per week. Days and times TBA.

Season: The season will start 4/12 and end early to mid-June.

**Parents of players birth year 2012 can choose to forgo any draft opportunity that would move your player from AA to AAA. Should your player be drafted to AAA, an additional $125 charge is applied.

AAA Division (eligible ages 8, 9 & 10, Player Pitch)**

In AAA, players pitch from a distance of 35' with an 11" ball, with "coach rescue" rules. Stealing is introduced. Scores are recorded and the season concludes with a championship tournament. League play for this division includes teams from Darien and Rowayton. Players will typically have one practice and two professionally umpired games per week. There is typically one weekend game and one game during the week.

Season: The season will start 4/12 and end early to mid-June.

Player Evaluations: Required for all players second grade and above. Evaluation day is scheduled for Sunday, 3/14 at Bobby Valentine's Sports Academy. Given the uncertain and unforeseeable environment presented with Covid-19, we will assess whether evaluations can be run safely within the guidelines set forth by the state and make alternate plans as necessary. Specific details will be communicated closer to March 14th.

The Rookie division is for our beginner softball players in Kindergarten. The emphasis is on fun and participation. It is an instructional program used to introduce our newcomers to the basic rules of softball and fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running.

The season is six weeks long (weather permitting), starting April 24th.  Each Saturday, there will be a 90 minute clinic, 9-10:30am. Stations of skill “games” will keep players on the move. As the season progresses, learning-focused scrimmages are introduced.

Player Evaluations: Not required.

Introduction to Pitching

Experienced league coaches will help players new to the position learn the basics of the windmill style of pitching by breaking down the motion into easy to understand steps. These clinics are recommended for players that are enthusiastic about softball and are already able to have an easy catch without many dropped balls. Inclusion in this clinic does not guarantee a player will participate in a kid-pitch division this spring.

Who: This clinic is open to girls participating in the Spring 2021 rec season and born in years 2009 through 2012 that have previously participated in at least two seasons of softball. 

When: Tuesday March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

Time: One hour, 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm
