The Learn to Skate (LTS) and Whack a Puck (WAP) program is designed as an introductory skating program for kids from 2-8 years old. The first session which starts in mid-October and runs through mid-December, focuses on developing early skating and hockey skills. Session 2 which begins in mid- December and runs through mid February is for children who would like to continue to develop their skaing skills or move to mini games. During Session two, the instructors spilt the Ice so that players joining the program during the Session Two timeframe but still still need beginer or emerging skating instrction can do so in a safe environment. Those players who have completed Session 1 or equivalent and feel ready to move to mini games and the next level of hockey instruction do so in the far area of the ICE. Enrollment is ongoing so you don't have to wait for a session to begin.

Final dates are determine after MYHA purchases ice time in the Summer
We will provide several dedicated adult coaches as well as designated JV hockey players from Marblehead High School helping as assistant coaches to provide instruction on the ice.
We invite parents to participate at any level.

Each participant will receive a MYHA jersey compliments of the program
Session Two - If your child is more comfortable at the learn to skate level, then the same equipment can be worn from session 1. If you feel that your child will be better served by moving to X-Ice mini games, then full gear is required. Full hockey equipment is defined as a hockey stick, a USA Hockey approved Helmet/Cage, gloves, shin guards, elbow pads, hockey pants, chest/shoulder pads. Some parents choose to have their children wear protective cups and mouthguards. If you child is joining session two, but just learining to skate, then they will only need to have a helmet with a cage and eith hockey or heavy snow gloves. Full gear is only for those kids that will be moving to mini games.

Enrollment capacity is 75 participants on the ice to ensure a quality on-ice learning experience.
