Learn to Curl December 15, 2019 @ 12:00pm-2:00pm

Learn To Curl

Cost: $25.00+ tax

A Learn to Curl clinic is a great way for anyone, age 7 to adult, to get your first exposure to the sport.  Each lesson is a 2-hour introduction and instructional session that teaches people the basics of curling.  Participants learn physical play, rules, and strategy.  We strive for a low instructor-to-student ratio with an emphasis on active participation.  Within minutes, you are throwing rocks and sweeping.  You finish off the session playing a mini game.  Learn To Curl sessions are also a great way for small groups to enjoy a new activity at a great price, and guests can all curl together as a group.

A Learn to Curl clinic includes:

  • 20-30 minutes of classroom instruction to go over terminology, ice safety, and rules
  • 1-1/2 hours of ice time
  • Instruction on how to deliver the stone, how to sweep, and basic strategy
  • A two- or three-end game (as many as time allows)

Clothing

  • Dress in layers.  The arena temperature is about 45-50 degrees. You'll be standing on ice for two hours. If you normally wear a hat outside, you'll probably want to wear one while curling as well.
  • Clothing should allow freedom of movement.  You need to be able to squat and lunge (blue jeans are not recommended since your movement is restricted).
  • Lightweight gloves keep your hands warm while still allowing you to feel the stone.
  • Fleece or velour jackets are a poor choice for curling because they have a tendency to shed fluff balls, which can impact the path of a rock and are difficult to remove from the ice surface.

Footwear

  • CLEAN SHOES ARE REQUIRED!!
  • Please bring a clean pair of shoes that are not worn from the parking lot into the building.  Athletic shoes are fine.  Any little grain of sand or pebble from shoes can affect the path of the stone.
  • Avoid shoes with eyelets or metal on top.
  • If your feet tend to get cold, consider wearing two pairs of socks.
  • The Club will supply any other equipment necessary.

If you have any questions, plase contact Carrie Harms at 763-780-3328 x17 or charms@fogertyarena.com.

This registration page is for individuals who are looking for a team, but are not registering and paying for a team.  Four Seasons staff will use this to try and connect members who wish to play together on the same nights or fill registered teams looking for players.

Registering in this program does not place you in a team for the 2020 Winter League season.

Adopt A Rock

Have you ever wanted to adopt?  Four Seasons Curling Club has 96 orphaned curling rocks looking for loving sponsors.  With the Adopt a Rock program you don't have the hassle of late night feedings or diaper changes.  The adoption fee is a $500 donation, about the cost of a rock. Let us know what you want engraved on the rock handle, whether it is your name or your company's name or logo, and the rock will curl on forever.  The donation goes to Fogerty Arena, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Therefore, your donation is eligible as a tax deduction.  If you need more information on the Adopt a Rock program, please contact the Fogerty Arena staff by email or by calling 763-780-3328.  If you're ready to adopt, please use this link or download the adoption form.
