Hello Stanwood Lacrosse Players and Parents,

It was another action packed week of lacrosse which had its ups and downs. The varsity (2-2) lost a tough game against North County earlier in the week, but turned it on against Monroe, winning on Friday. They are getting better with each game and I can't wait to see what the next few games will bring. Their next home game will be on Wednesday at 5:00pm at Heritage Park against Everett. They will need your support as this game promises to be a close one. Their next home game will be on Friday at 5:00pm against Skagit Valley.

The 3/4 team (1-3) dropped their game to Snohomish by a goal, and both 5/6 teams (Red 3-1, Black 1-3) lost their games to Providence and Monroe by one goal each. The 7/8 B team (2-2) lost to a very good Providence team, and the 7/8 A team (3-1) dominated Snohomish 7/8 A in their morning game and then lost to Bellevue's best 7/8 A team in a game that sounded closer than the 7-1 score. Bellevue's coaches commented that Stanwood was the best team they have played so far, and want to play us again. Not bad for playing a double header day with one of the best programs on the West Coast.

The Lady Spartans 3/4 team (2-0) took to the field for the first time ever, and overwhelmed the Queen Ann teams. In two games they scored 20 goals and only allowed 2. As I said before, they may be short on numbers, but they are a very good and athletic team.

By far the biggest loss of the weekend was during the 7/8 A game against Snohomish, when one of our players was hit, and then admitted to the hospital due to his injuries. I would like to wish Drew a speedy recovery and please keep him in your thoughts.

Jesse Jones came out on Friday and interviewed some parents and players for a piece he is working on about our uniform issue. As for the uniforms, the board plans on ordering uniforms within the next day or two, so we should have them by the next set of youth games. Our budget is touch and go (because of the uniforms), and I would like to encourage everyone to help out as much as they can. Thanks to all the players that have been selling raffle tickets (about 25% of the program). The first set of incentive shirts were handed out on Friday and hopefully that will encourage other players to get out and sell tickets. We only have two weeks left to sell tickets, and the title (and prize) for the leading ticket seller is well within reach for everyone. The leader has 6 books sold so far.

Finally, I would like to inform you that the New (and improved) Spartan Wear is ready for purchase. I have attached an order form to the email for those of you who want to purchase some Stanwood Spartans LAX and Lady Spartans apparel. These orders will be completed through Eagles Nest so you know they will get done, and get done quickly. I will be submitting orders on two dates. The first is 03/30/13 (for orders turned in by 03/29/13) and the next is on 04/16/13 (for orders turned in by 04/15/13). I know the first date is less than a week away, but I am trying to get apparel in by the next set of games.

If you would like to order Stanwood LAX apparel, please print and fill out the order form, then submit (in an envelope w/players name on it) to your player's coach by the dates list above. I will be picking up order forms on Friday. One note, the Youth Hoodie (sizes YM-YXL) may have a slight variation on color and will take a few more days to get as they come from a different vendor.

That's it for now. Thanks everyone
Mike Woodruff
