Pack 75 Webelos (4th & 5th graders) overnight at Army's Lake Frederick, Friday 9/10.
Weston Troop 788 overnight at Lake Frederick Friday 9/10 and Saturday 9/11. Transportation Arrangements for Pack 75 Webelos will be coordinated with registered attendees to facilitate carpooling. Each Webeolo has to bring a parent/guardian. Troop 788 scout transportation will be coordinated as usual based on identified leader chaperones and volunteer drivers, equipment, and number of scouts. Trip details including meeting places, departure times, all directions, packing lists etc will be communicated to participants prior to 9/10.
Pack 75 Webelos Only Overnight on 9/10 Friday: Pack 75 Webelos Only Overnight (with parent) at Army's Lake Frederick with Troop 788 the night before the Army Football game in West Point counts as a "Troop Outdoor Event" for Arrow of Light and Crossover (for Sr. Webelos), and provides all Webelos opportunity to work on activity pins (e.g. Outdoorsman.) Webelos in Pack 75 have a 4-year tradition of Army Scout Day with a related Webelos Only Overnight and experience has shown that a Friday night overnight optimizes the day on Saturday at West Point for the younger families, and one night is generally a good experience. At least one parent must attend, but unlike most pack events which are "family camping"-- younger siblings are not allowed because the focus is on activity pin requirements (real "work" by Webelos!) Webelos families should meet the Troop 788 leaders and scouts at the designated departure point Friday night and follow to Lake Frederick, make camp, campfire & cracker barrel (snacks!). Dinner should be brown bag enroute. In the morning, Webelos will cook breakfast and then pack up and join everyone for the pre-game activities at Michie Stadium.
Troop 788 9/10-9/12 Campout: Weston Troop 788 plans on this event as a two-night overnight to take full advantage of the venue and facilities. Army Scout Day is popular with Pack alumni, a suitable Troop event, and was added to the Troop calendar in 2010 as the “Troop Outdoor Event with the Pack,” eliminating the need to schedule a separate event with Sr. Webelos later in the year. This BSA Hudson Valley Council event is well attended by Troops from several states and Saturday evening has historically been a great overnight experience at Lake Frederic because of the facility and boy scout camaraderie. Troop 788 will return to Lake Frederick after the football game and patrols will cook dinner Saturday night and then breakfast Sunday morning before departure. Pricing is specified per night in the unfortunate case where someone will only be able to participate in one night.
Parking Passes for West Point are required and can be purchased onsite on Game Day ($10). Participants who know they are driving their vehicles are free to go to the Army website and order their Parking Pass in advance. (Click here for the direct link) Order early enough for it to be mailed!
Participants Information Packet (emailed prior to 9/10), will include: Directions to West Point and Michie Stadium, directions to Lake Frederick from Weston and from West Point,
Lake Frederick Liability Waiver (must be signed and witnessed by 3rd party), Packing Lists, etc.
