Eric Ernst

Eric Ernst finished his 19th season with the Merrimack Men's Soccer Program, continuing his role as Assistant Men's Soccer Coach. During his tenure at Merrimack, the Warriors have captured four Northeast-10 titles, one ECAC Championship, four Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year awards, and one Northeast-10 Player of the Year award.
Ernst's efforts on the coaching staff helped produce two of the greatest seasons in program history in 2012 and 2014. The Warriors finished 15-4-2 during the 2012 campaign, earning their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament while also laying claim to the NE-10 regular season title.
2014 saw the Warriors finish 15-5-2, qualifying for the program's second NCAA Tournament as the No. 4 seed in the East Region. Merrimack defeated Philadelphia University in the first round, and followed that up with an upset victory against second-seeded Southern CT. Merrimack advanced to the East Region Final for the first time in program history, and in the process, hosted its first ever NCAA Tournament game. In both 2012 & 2014 Warrior goalie Jose Silva was named to the NSCAA All-American Team.
Along with coaching the Warriors, Ernst has coached for the Futbol Club United organization since 2003, where he focuses on the U-16 to U-18 boys age groups. His teams based out of Central Massachusetts/I-495 corridor have consistently qualified to participate at the Division 1 level of the Massachusetts Premier League and advance to the Massachusetts State Cup Tourney. During the 2004 season Ernst's U-18 squad made it to the final four before bowing out to the eventual State Champion. With an emphasis on academics and player development both on and off the field, dozens of Ernst's former club players have gone on to participate in all levels of NCAA Men's College Soccer.
Ernst was a two-year starter in net for the University of Rhode Island Rams soccer program. A native of Cranston, R.I., he graduated with a dual bachelor of arts degree in political science and sociology. Ernst also graduated from Richmond College in Florence, Italy, where he studied Italian and economics. He played high school soccer at Cranston West and was a two-time all-state goalkeeper and captain. Ernst a three-sport athlete, earning varsity letters in soccer, baseball and wrestling.
Ernst has been employed at AMICA Mutual Insurance Company since 1994. He currently works in the Claims Executive Department in Lincoln, RI as a Claims Examiner. Ernst and his wife, Carrie, reside in Attleboro, MA, with their daughter, Ashlee.
