McDowell Girls Lacrosse is truly a parent-run organization. It is through the parents' hard work and dedication that the program thrives.
If you're the parent of a McDowell lacrosse player, you're already deeply involved. You drive your daughter to practice several times a week. You spend every weekend in the spring at games and tournaments all over Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. You buy sticks, pack coolers, wash uniforms, yell and cheer at games, and do a hundred other little things to ensure that your daughter has a great experience.
But if you're ready to take the next step, there are several vital roles and duties that need to be filled.
High School
  • Registration for US Lacrosse: after all the girls have registered for the spring season, someone must assemble and submit the paperwork to officially register our players with US Lacrosse.
  • Concessions: we always need volunteers to run the concession stand at Gus Anderson on game days.
  • Game day field prep:
  • Accounting (profit/loss) submit title IX
  • Assistant Coaches (see the "Become a Coach" section below)
  • Help with announcing at games and running the clock.
  • Help for Senior Night and our end-of-year banquet.
Become a coach!
We are always looking for additional coaches to add to our staff, so if this is something you are interested in, please contact us!
  • Time can be limited to whatever YOU can do!
  • Don’t know the game? That’s OK! We can teach you!
  • You must have your three clearances: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check. You can get those clearances here.
  • You must have a Certificate for Concussion and Cardiac Arrest Training
  • The US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program also provides opportunities to learn the game and how to coach. This program is broken down into three levels: fundamental (Level 1), intermediate (Level 2), and advanced (Level 3) coaching. For more information, or to start your process, please visit the US Lacrosse website.
