Pre-K/Kindergarten "Little Lady Lax'ers"
CYA Girls Lacrosse is pleased to announce the creation of the "Little Lady Lax'ers"(LLL's) program. This program is designed for our youngest players who are experiencing organized sports for the first time. Emphasis will be on having fun while developing motor skills, teamwork, and the fundamentals of lacrosse. The LLL's do NOT travel or participate in FORMAL games. Instead, the LLL's will have organized scrimmages and meet once per week for a hour on either Saturday or Sunday morning at either Chantilly High School or Rachel Carson Middle School, beginning in early April.
Tryouts/Assessments
CYA Lacrosse is dedicated to fostering the growth/development of every player and their enjoyment of the sport by providing an environment with teammates and opponents of similar skill levels. To that end, we strongly encourage all registered players in divisions 3rd/4th through 7th/8th to attend the player assessment sessions. If you wish to be considered for an "A" team, you MUST attend the player assessment sessions.
*There are no player assessments for either the "Little Lady Lax'ers" or the 1st/2nd grade divisions.
This is the Assessment schedule:
Assessments will be held on 1/29, 2/5, and 2/12 (2/12 is our rain/snow date and only if needed). All locations and times will be the same for each date.
3rd/4th grade girls will be at Greenbriar Park (Turf Field) from 10:00 to 11:00
At Chantilly HS we will have Girls 5/6 at 2:00, and then Girls 7/8 from 3:30 to 5:00.
There are no assessments for K-2 or Little Lady Laxers.
Please have the girls dress appopriately, bring water, their stick, goggles, and mouthpiece. Cleats are recommended, but sneakers are fine.
"A" Team Policy
In consideration of teammates, any player that does not play lacrosse as their primary spring sport might not qualify for an "A" team, regardless of the results of their player assessment. If a player must frequently miss practices and/or games due to participation in another sport or activity, CYA Lacrosse reserves the right to place that player on a different team to free a spot on the "A" team for a player that can fully participate.
Practices
"A" team practices will be 2 - 3 days per week and will begin in early March. All other teams, with the exception of the LLL's, will have practices 2 days per week beginning in late March.
Game Schedule
Girls "regular season" games are generally played on Sundays. There may, however, be cases where games are played on Saturdays.
