When do we meet?

Our monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the Elmwood Community Center throughout the year from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

When does the season start?

Teams are formed in early April and the players are called shortly thereafter.  Practices begin in mid-April or when field conditions are conducive to playing baseball.  Opening Day for the Spring 2020 season will take place on Sunday, April  26th at our beautiful UCONN Baseball Complex. Please stay tuned for further information.

When does the season end?

The season typically ends when the West Hartford Public School year ends.  Our 2019 Championship Day is presently scheduled for Sunday, June 16th at UCONN.

How are the teams chosen?

When we choose the rookie division and instructional division teams, we try to honor as many player requests as possible. We also try to group children together from the same schools, if at all possible. In the Minor, AAA, and Major divisions, the players are assigned to the teams in such a manner so as to equalize the level of talent.  A skills evaluation is held in mid-March each year for all 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 year old boys and girls.  At the evaluation, children are assigned a bib number and their evaluation is made anonymously by bib number.  The player agent, who is not permitted to be a coach in the league, then distributes the players by bib number on the various teams.  Requests to play with other children are NOT honored in the Minors, AAA and Major League divisions. Requests to play for certain coaches are also not honored...in any division.

Are there post season opportunities?

The WHLL has numerous post season playing opportunities for your children.  During the last week of the spring season, tryouts are held for the Little League World Series Tournament Teams and our summer travel teams.  Typically, the WHLL fields teams in the 8-9-10 year old, 9-10-11 year old and 10-11-12 year old divisions.  Those teams play in the District 7 Little League Tournament (accessible ONLY via West Hartford Little League) which begins shortly after the WHLL Championship Day. The WHLL also fields numerous summer travel teams that participate in other tournaments around the state.  For more information on post season opportunities, please contact us at whllct@gmail.com  If you believe that your child wants to participate in the post season and that it is likely he or she will be selected to play, please understand that this is a serious time commitment. You will not be able to schedule vacations through the end of July. Please look for updated information pertaining to the summer District and Travel season the beginning of May.
