   VS.

#1 Cubs     4
#2 Giants  1

In a highly entertaining game the Cubs beat the Giants 4-1. The Cubs again were led by the starting pitching of Emily Abbott and Kristin Rose who combined, held the high powered Giants to one run. As usual the Cubs defense shined led by Meghan McDonnell. Meghan made 3 highlight film stops at third and a few others that she made look routine. The Cubs scored all of their runs in the fourth. Big hits by Marilyn Carroll, Kristin Rose, Sara Kennealey and Emily Abbott were surrounded by key walks from Molly Baker, Daley Tegan and Clare Arens. From there, the defense and pitching took over. Wake up Harry Caray, the curse is over! As Haray Caray said "Cubs Win! Cubs Win!"

#1 Cubs     9
#4 Angels  1

Cubs win 8-1.  Led by the excellent pitching of Emily Abbott and Kristin Rose the Cubs beat the Angels 8-1. Meghan McDonnell led the way with 2 home runs and gold glove fielding. The Cubs defense led the way with other great plays by Marilyn Carroll, Sara Kenneally, Olivia Murphy and Kate Murray. The Cubs offense got key hits from Kathleen Rose and Gianna Spring. A great TEAM win for the Cubs. On to the championship!

#2 Giants     9
#3 Rangers  4

In the other semifinal matchup, the Giants beat the Rangers 9-4 and advance to the championship game.  Rangers and Giants played a great game Saturday at Andrews. Back to where it all started for these ladies. In the heat of the day the flow of the game was back and forth until the bottom of the third when the Giants jumped out to a 4 run lead. Half the girls on the Rangers realizing that this may be their last Juniors game gave it their all but as with most things in life we found ourselves wishing we had more time. Even in loss the never surrender attitude inspires to want to play again.

Congratulations to the Giants and good luck in the Championship.

As I leave the Junior division with my daughter and turn out the lights on this part of our lives I thought I'd leave you with this.
Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together?  I guess that wouldn't work.  Someone would leave.  Someone always leaves.  Then we would have to say good-bye.  I hate good-byes.  I know what I need.  I need more hellos.  ~Charles M. Schulz

Don't forget to say hello!!!

#3 Rangers  9
#6 Astros     8

In a rain soaked game from start to finish both teams played as if it was sunny and 70. It was the Rangers privilege to play the Astros in the first round of the 2013 playoffs. My privilege to witness so many great games this season leading up to one of the best the teams had to offer. And now the Rangers privilege to play one more.

Maybe it was the rousing pregame speak. Maybe it was the double bubble. Or maybe just maybe these ladies are growing into the ball players we already knew they were and wanted them to be..... I think it was the double bubble ;-)

Say it with me on 3 ....1....2...3... Rangers!!

#4 Angels     12
#5 Cardinals 10
The Angels beat the Cardinals 12-10 in a close opening round matchup.
