Fall Baseball programs:

  • Tee Ball (Ages 4-6)
  • Coach Pitch (Ages 6-8)
  • Kid Pitch Minors (Ages 9-10)
  • Kid Pitch Majors (Ages 11-13)
  • We are NOT planning on having Coach Pitch Rookies division in the fall for 6 year olds.  As shown above, 6 years olds may play either Tee Ball or Coach Pitch in the fall and parents should use their best judgment to decide which program is best for them to be in.  Generally speaking, if they played in CP Rookies in the summer, we would encourage Coach Pitch.  If they played Tee ball in the summer, we would only recommend jumping all the way to coach pitch if they showed strong interest and skills.
  • For the past several years thru 2019, we have had 1 large age range kid pitch league out of necessity.  With registrations up, we intend to have our normal 2 separate age groups the same as we do in summer.
  • There are no fall WYB recreation programs for players 14 and over.

Season Duration

August 24 – October 17  (games begin Sep 5)

Who can register for Fall Baseball?

Registration is open for any 4 - 13 year old child in the Worthington School District or attending a private school within the Worthington School District.

Can Travel Baseball players participate?

Yes, but not as a team.  We do typically see a good bit of travel players in the fall and try to spread the out in accordance with their schools.

What equipment will my child need to play?

Uniforms are not provided.  Home and Away jerseys and a baseball cap will need to be purchased at Egelhoff Sports (50 Dillmont Drive – 436-5700).  Batting helmets and catcher's equipment are available at the field for all players.

You will need to provide a baseball glove/mitt for your child.  For 2020, the league is avoiding shared equipment so your player will also need their own batting helmet.  Some limited helmets may be loaned out by WYB for the season (if interested, contact the Commissioner).  Players typically share bats; however no bats are provided by WYB.  All bat guidelines are governed by Little League rules and regulations.

You may also want to consider the following optional equipment:

Cleats - Please no metal spikes.  Soccer cleats typically work well.  Sneakers are also acceptable.

Baseball socks and pants - Please contact your coach if he/she requests a specific color.  Jeans or sweatpants are perfectly acceptable, however, most children wear baseball specific pants (typically gray or white).

Will my child be placed on a team with friends from his/her school?

We try our best to accommodate special requests; however, we cannot promise that your child will be on a certain team.  Many factors influence team placement, including the following considerations:  the number of students registered from each school, number of coaches, and home school of volunteer coaches.  I would suggest making a note in the "Special Request" box of your online registration form if you have any unique concerns.

Can girls play Fall Baseball?

Yes!  Boys do typically outnumber girls on teams by a large margin, but we do see more girls in the fall in Tee Ball and Coach Pitch because WYB Softball does not currently have a fall rec program.

Should my child "play up" or "play down”?

There is very little wiggle room with players "playing down" in age.  The only possible exceptions granted would be a birthday within a couple months of the age cutoff and/or a child older for their grade and wants to play with their school grade.  We discourage children “playing up” in the Kid Pitch League for safety reasons.  The league commissioner must approve “playing up”.  Please understand that there is much more to baseball than hitting.  Your child may excel (or struggle) at a particular baseball skill; however, baseball can be a complicated sport for children to fully understand and appreciate at this age.  In our opinion, most children benefit from playing with their age-group friends and peers.

When are practices scheduled?

Practices will be scheduled at the discretion of your coach.  Times and locations will be determined by your coach.

When are games scheduled?

Game schedules will vary.  Typically, games will be scheduled Monday – Friday in the evening.  Games also will be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.  There will be no games on Sunday mornings.  Games on Saturday morning are minimized.

Where are games played?

Tee Ball and Coach Pitch will be at McCord Park, by the Worthington Recreation Center.  Kid Pitch games will primarily be at Perry Park Field #3 with practices primarily at McCord Park.

What if it rains?

Fields will be closed at the discretion of Worthington Parks.  The Rain Line number is 614-786-7366.  For all other circumstances, BOTH coaches will determine if a field is playable.  Safety is our first priority.  We will make every effort to make up any rained out games.

Will my child receive a trophy/medal?

No trophies or medals are awarded for Fall Baseball.

I want to coach, whom do I contact?

Great!  Contact Andrew Ruck ( ) as soon as possible.  Preference will be give to returning coaches. All coaches are required to complete a Background Check.  Please refer to the "Background Check Policy" tab on the left margin of the WYB website.

What are the responsibilities of a coach?

Coaches should create a fun and safe atmosphere for players to learn, practice, and compete.  Coaches will also be asked to communicate effectively with parents and distribute uniforms and equipment as needed.

Any further questions can be directed to Andrew Ruck
