HS Travel League Overview

High School students have an opportunity to play competitive volleyball on MYA Volleyball's HS TRAVEL team. The program is ideal for athletes with HS playing experience looking to keep their skills fresh prior to high school team tryouts in August. The HS Travel team playd in an established Northern Virginia Travel Volleyball League with participants from other youth volleyball programs in Fairfax County, including some club teams (typically younger players).  The MYV1 team won the league championship in 2019!

 

New 2020

  • McLean will field just one HS Travel team for the regional travel league. 
  • Those who do not make the HS Travel team after the tryout are encouraged to participate in the competitive HS Select league (assuming room)

Tryout Dates

  • For the Spring 2020 season, the HS Travel tryout is Saturday, March 7 @4:15pm-6:00pm (4:00 check-in) at the McLean HS Main/Lower Gym #2.  
  • Use the following link to register for the tryout which is free
  • You do not need to be registered for the Spring 2020 season prior to the tryout.  However, those who want to play in the HS Select league as a fallback MUST be registered by the March 1 registration deadline.

Format

  • The HS Travel team Teams are formed after an open tryout.  The team is composed of 11 or 12 players
  • Players do not have to live in McLean to join
  • Practices are held twice a week in McLean-area gyms
  • Matches are played once a week on Wednesdays starting in early April (90 minutes; 5 games).  Most matches are played late evenings at The Campus in Sterling VA
