Code of Conduct:
CYSA recognizes that this is a game played by children who want to have fun and learn the game. Many of our referees and coaches are also young adolescents who love the game of soccer and have volunteered their time to help our program.
In order to maintain a positive atmosphere, CYSA has adopted a zero tolerance policy with regards to the behavior of parents, coaches and all other participants.
Parents, coaches and all spectators and participants are expected to do the following:
  • Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating POSITIVE support for all players, coaches and officials at every game, practice or other youth sport events – this applies to players and coaches for both teams;
  • Praise players and coaches from both teams regardless of final outcome;
  • Not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player or parent such as booing, taunting or using profane gestures or language;
  • Refrain from speaking to referees during or after the game except to provide positive support (exceptions include coaches asking for substitutions, to point out an emergency or to respond from questions from the referee). There is absolutely no disputing calls during or after the game or remarks to the referee such as “to watch certain players”. Yelling, criticism, sarcasm, harassment, intimidation or negative feedback of any kind to the referee will not be tolerated and is subject to ejection.
  • Parents and spectators are expected to let the players play and the coaches coach – do not coach or shout instructions to players from the sidelines.
This zero tolerance policy is enforceable by the CYSA Board. Instances of unacceptable behavior may result in warnings, suspension and / or expulsion at the discretion of the Board.
