Nominating Committee Volunteers Needed - Message From the President - 7/20

As mid-Summer passes by, we need to prepare for the election process that will provide a new Board of Directors for the Club on September 1st, 2011.     This is a very important time for the club, and we need many volunteers to participate in the process.
There are two important ways that members can contribute.    First, we will need members to serve on the Nomination Committee.   This Committee of Five meets over a two to three week period in August to discuss and understand the roles of the board positions, interview prospective board members and choose a slate of board members that will be presented to the General Membership for approval (elections).
The second opportunity to contribute is to volunteer for a board position.    Look for a follow up e-mail in the next few days that will explain in more detail what is involved in the various board positions for this year.
If you are interested in serving on the Nomination Committee, please email or contact a board member by Saturday July 23rd.    A tentative schedule for the Nomination Committee is as follows:
  • Monday July 25th -  Nomination Committee Selected
  • August 1 thru August 8-  Nomination Committee meets to review board position roles and responsibilities, discuss evaluation process, prepare for interviews.
  • Thursday August 4th -     General Membership Meeting- By Laws Revisions Presented and Voted
  • August 8 thru August 22- Interviews of Prospective Board Members, Discussions and Creation of Slate.
  • Thursday August 25th- General Membership Meeting- Elections
Participation on the Nominating Committee is a very important component of the Glenbrooke Governance process.    The current Board of Directors strongly supports the nomination process as a means to provide the membership with a balanced and strong leadership for the club.

Educational Homestay Program Party Today - 7/13
This afternoon the EHP has booked a party at Glenbrooke from 2:00-4:00pm.  The Educational Homestay Program is a non-profit organization that brings international students to the Hartford area to improve their English and experience American life and culture.  The students are hosted by local families during their stay in the U.S.  The students attend the IB Academy in East Hartford each morning to work on their English skills and then go on excursions in the afternoons.  Each of the students will need to be tested before they are allowed to use the pool.  We apologize for the short notice and hope that this is a pleasant experience for both members, the host families and the students.
