Wolverines Boys Bantam Lacrosse Team (Grades 1-3)

This program is designed to introduce 1-3 grade boys to the sport of lacrosse - your children need no prior lacrosse experience. The team is coached by veteran lacrosse player and coach Jeremy Porter - one of the original founders of the Henry County Lacrosse program.

Who Can Play?
All 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade boys who are current residents of Henry County are welcome to register for the Boys Bantam Lacrosse Team.

When Does the Season Begin?
The Bantam Boys Lacrosse season begins the week of February 1, and runs through April 30, 2017. Practices will normally be on Thursday nights from 6:30PM to 7:30PM at J.P. Moseley Park. Games are typically on Saturdays, with approximately 4 Home and 4 Away games. The Bantam Boys Lacrosse schedule will be published on this site in mid to late February.  There may be an occasional Sunday afternoon make-up game. The competitive season begins on the weekend of February 27.

Who Will We Play Against?
The Bantam Boys Lacrosse Team will play in the Metro Atlanta Youth Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) against other clubs in the Atlanta area.

Where Will We Play?
The elementary teams practice at J.P. Moseley Park.  Home games will be played at J.P. Moseley Park.  The teams will play an 8 game schedule and have up to 4 away games. Travel games are at locations around Metro-Atlanta.

What Equipment is Needed to Play?
Players are responsible for providing their own equipment. This includes the following items:
  • Youth Lacrosse Helmet
  • Shoulder Pads
  • Arm Guards/Elbow Pads
  • Gloves
  • Mouth Guard
Contact Coach Jeremy Porter (see below) for help and advice in purchasing equipment. There are a variety of starter sets available from different vendors that are less expensive than what you may see in a local sports store or in a catalog.

What Costs Are Involved to Play?
You must have a current US Lacrosse Membership for your child to play (this is $25 per year). The registration fee for the Spring Season is $170.00 and includes uniform.

How Do I Become a US Lacrosse Member?
Click on the US Lacrosse tab at the top menu, or go to www.uslacrosse.org. Look for "Become a Member."  The cost is $25/year, and provides insurance coverage, access to a variety of lacrosse information and a subscription to Lacrosse magazine. Once you become a member, you will be given an ID number to use during our team registration. Players who became US Lacrosse members this past fall are covered for this spring season (it's an annual membership).

How Do I Sign Up?
Register for this season using the Online Registration button on the side menu. You can also sign-up at our next practice. We currently practice on Thursday nights at J.P. Moseley Park in Stockbridge, Georgia from 6:30PM to 7:30PM.

How Long Does Registration Last?
Elementary registration begins on mid November and is open through January 16th (children may be accepted mid-season, if you're reading this after the deadline, please email Jeremy Porter at 404.641.9023).

How is Bantam Lacrosse Different?
Bantam lacrosse games are 7 v 7, with 2 Attack, 2 Midfield, 2 Defense and 1 Goalie. Players are encouraged to play all positions at this age. The games are typically 4 12-minute quarters.

How Can I Help the Henry County Lacrosse Association?
Please tell other parents about this program. We are quickly growing, but there are still a lot of people in the country that do not know about lacrosse (but would be interested in the sport for their children).

Please also consider being an assistant coach for the 1st-3rd grade team. No prior experience is necessary. Like most of our players, this would be a learn as you go endeavor. You will work along side experienced coaches during all practices. If interested, please contact Jeremy Porter at at 404.641.9023.
