About Pelham Travel Basketball (PTB)
Pelham Travel Basketball (known as 'Pelham Pride') is an independent, non-profit organization established to provide the youth of Pelham, NH, with the opportunity to learn the game of basketball and participate in a highly competitive environment. Pelham Travel Basketball organizes boys & girls teams in grades 4-8 and stresses good sportsmanship, teamwork, and commitment.
Playing in a competitive travel basketball environment requires that interested children be in good physical condition and a genuine desire to play and get better that's typically higher than playing recreation-level basketball. The season typically runs from November to March and can involve as many as 25-30 games played against towns in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Games are played mostly on weekends, but can be played mid-week. Each team usually practices once or twice a week, but schedules can vary. Tryouts/Evaluations/Roster Selection typically occurs the last weekend of September or first weekend of October. Practices usually start in October, depending on team needs. League season starts after Thanksgiving, but teams may participating in pre-season tournaments in the month of November.
Registering for the program does not ensure participation. Tryouts and/or evaluations may be held based on the number of registrations received and available roster spots. Typically, tryouts are held at the younger age levels. Individual coaches are solely responsible for scheduling tryouts (if needed) and selecting players. All parents of players are required to sign a Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy. There will be a yearly participation fee, along with a minimum fundraising requirement which is paid up front and which funds then are kept by player/family once fundraiser tickets are sold. Players are responsible for purchasing any uniforms, including both new 4th grade team players and players who need a larger uniform as they grow. In addition, parents will be asked to assist with fundraising activities and to volunteer during the annual Pelham Holiday Tournament.
Please note: 4th grade boys and girls travel teams may choose to roster some 3rd grade players who attend tryouts if their roster will allow for it, and providing 3rd grade players demonstrate the ability required to play at the 4th grade level.
