Glastonbury-Hartwell Soccer Club – Fall 2010 Supplemental Programming Details
 
K-1st Grade Academy
The focus of these sessions is on individual technical skills development, including ball mastery, dribbling, receiving balls, 1 v 1 skills and small-group play. Players will be taught in ability-based groups to develop feeling for the ball and control. These training sessions will be run exclusively by professional coaches provided by SoccerPlus and utilizing the Glastonbury-Hartwell Curriculum. The student to staff ratio in the Academy is limited to 12:1, ensuring individual attention for every player.

2nd-3rd Grade Academy
Building on the concepts introduced by the coaches and professional staff at the K-1 level, the 2nd-3rd Grade Academy will continue the players down the Glastonbury-Hartwell Player Development pathway by continuing to stress the importance and train individual technical skills. Players will continue to develop ball control and learn to apply those skills to take-on opponents and escape from pressure. Players are taught using an educationally-based model in ability-based groups. These training sessions will be run exclusively by professional coaches provided by SoccerPlus and utilizing the Glastonbury-Hartwell Curriculum. The student to staff ratio in the Academy is limited to 12:1, ensuring individual attention for every player.

StrikerSchool
Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in soccer and talent alone isn’t enough. Players must be taught how to find the back of the net. The Striker Academy will provide players the technical instruction and the functional training necessary to improve his or her goal scoring ability, regardless of what position the player typically plays. Finishing means learning how to shoot with both feet and many different surfaces (inside, outside, laces) but also how to create separation, taking on 1 v 1 to create shots and more. These training sessions will be run exclusively by professional coaches provided by SoccerPlus and utilizing the Glastonbury-Hartwell Curriculum. The student to staff ratio in the Academy is limited to 12:1, ensuring individual attention for every player.

GoalkeeperSchool
Goalkeeping requires specialized training. The staff at SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School have been training goalkeepers for 29 years and will provide a unique training environment that will help every goalkeeper to develop an understanding of the techniques and approach necessary to be effective and safe. Topics will include: handling, breakaways, high balls, distribution and more. These training sessions will be run exclusively by professional coaches provided by SoccerPlus and utilizing the Glastonbury-Hartwell Curriculum. The student to staff ratio in the Academy is limited to 12:1, ensuring individual attention for every player.
