Ron Chase - Head Boys Varsity Coach, Southington High School
Ron Chase played his college lacrosse at West Chester University in Pennsylvania. While at West Chester he started all four years and helped the team achieve a top 5 Division II ranking for the duration of his college career. He also helped West Chester win the ECAC Championship. Since 1999, Ron has coached either college or high school lacrosse. From 1999-2002, he was an assistant coach at Haverford College. From 2002-2003, he was an assistant at Hamilton College during which time the team won the Liberty League Championship and made the NCAA Quarterfinals. Following his brief stint at Hamilton, Ron was an assistant at Hobart College from 2003 - 2006. During his three year period with Hobart, the team was a Patriot League finalist and made the NCAA tournament in 2003. His Hobart teams had key wins against Cornell, Bucknell, Army and Syracuse between 2003 and 2006. In 2006, Ron became head varsity coach for Daniel Hand High School. From 2007 until today Ron has been the head coach for Southington High School. In 2011, Southington achieved its first post season win in program history.
Skip Flanagan - Head Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Avon Old Farms School
Dr. Henry “Skip” Flanagan came to Avon Old Farms in 1972, and quickly distinguished himself as an outstanding teacher, coach, and school administrator. In his 10-year career at Avon Old Farms Skip was the chief architect of the outstanding lacrosse tradition at Avon Old Farms. Skip’s understanding of the game and phenomenal ability to work with young people resulted in the establishment of one of the most well-respected lacrosse programs at the prep school level. Skip coached many outstanding teams and players, but his 1979 team was undefeated and earned the New England Division I Prep School title. Thanks to the firm foundation fashioned through Skip’s hard work, skill, and perseverance, Avon Old Farms lacrosse remains one of the premiere programs in the country. Whether at Avon Old Farms in a variety of different capacities over the years, or while he was Headmaster at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, he brings passion, skill, and incredible knowledge to his work. He has done much for the sport of lacrosse through his efforts to teach, promote, and inspire enthusiasm for the game.
Jane Karger - Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach, Central Connecticut State University
Jane played her college lacrosse at Mount St. Mary's where she finished second all-time in minutes played and fourth in career saves. Her team reached the conference tournament in each of her seasons played. In 2005, her team captured the NEC Championship and a berth in the NCAA tournament. In 2008, Jane was named to the NEC All-Tournament team, was a NEC Academic Honor Roll selection and participated in the North/South Division I All-Star game. Jane began her coaching career at Mount St. Mary's where she coached the defense and goalies for two years. Over the course of her two years at Mount St. Mary's, eight student athletes earned All-NEC honors, including five on the first team. In 2009, the Mountaineers produced the NEC defensive player of the year. In 2010, Jane was an assistant coach at Connecticut College where she helped four student athletes achieve Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region honors. Jane was named an assistant coach at Central Connecticut State University in 2011.
Kelly Nangle - Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, Central Connecticut State University
Kelly was a four-time All-Conference player for the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers and is among the programs top-10 all-time in ground balls, caused turnovers, and draw controls. Following her senior season, she was selected to play in the Division I North/South Senior All-Star game. Her coaching career began as an assistant at her alma mater, Mount St. May's. From there she moved on to her first head coach position at St. John's Prep in Frederick, Maryland. In the fall of 2008, Kelly joined the staff of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as an assistant coach, where she spent the next three years leading their defense and recruiting efforts. In her years at Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights compiled a record of 27-21 and were regarded as one of the top defensive teams in the Big East, finishing second in the conference in goals-against average in 2011. Kelly was named head coach at Central Connecticut State University in August 2011.
Matt Ranaghan - Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach, Trinity College
Matt joined the Trinity Athletics Department in 2011 as the men’s lacrosse and men’s soccer Graduate Assistant. Ranaghan graduated from Hobart College in New York, where he double-majored in Political Science and English, and minored in American Studies. At Hobart, Ranaghan was a member of its Div. I varsity lacrosse team, and earned the Defensive Player Award in his senior year. He was an All-American lacrosse player and selected as the Maine Sunday Telegram Varsity Athlete of the Year in high school. Ranaghan spent three years at Trinity-Pawling School in New York, where he was Head Lacrosse Coach, English teacher, and Assistant Director of College Placement. He spent a year teaching and coaching in Manchester, England, where he founded and developed a lacrosse club.
Brian Tilley - Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach, University of Hartford
Brian Tilley enters his second season as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach at University of Hartford. Tilley’s responsibilities include serveing as the Hawks’ offensive coordinator and goalie coach. He also assists with the program’s recruiting. Tilley reunites with both a program and coach with which he is very familiar. A graduate of Hartford in 2008, he played for the Hawks from 2005-08 and spent three seasons under head coach Peter Lawrence’s tutelage. “It is nice to add an alumnus to staff who has so much pride, as well as a desire to help restore the tradition here at Hartford,” said Lawrence at the time of his hire. “Brian has great character, values, and a tireless work ethic which will transfer to our players.” Tilley, who graduated with a degree in entrepreneurial studies, began his coaching career as an assistant at Oneonta State. While with the Red Dragons, he served as the offensive coordinator and piloted the team’s recruiting efforts. As a midfielder at the University of Hartford, Tilley was a four-year letterwinner, playing in 57 games. At the end of his senior season, he was deemed the team’s most valuable player and was selected to play in the Turfer Senior East/West All-Star Game. In the America East Conference goal scoring rankings in 2008, Tilley ranked second in scoring among midfielders and eighth overall. At the end of his freshman year, he was selected to the America East All-Rookie Team. Prior to attending Hartford, the Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. native played lacrosse at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, N.Y. During his tenure at St. Anthony’s he helped lead his team to three N.S.C.H.S.A.A. league championships. As a senior he earned the lacrosse sportsmanship award.
