In-House Volunteer Opportunities

In order to run a successful 2020-21 In-House program and to ensure there is adequate supervision and enough adults present to assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures we are in need of volunteers for Grade Level Commissioners, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers.  Please consider volunteering.

Grade Commissioners: (2-3 Commissioners per grade is required)

  • Assist In-House VP & Coaching Directors with setup/take down at clinics
  • Assist with player check-in at clinics (meet players facility doors, take player temperatures, guide to gyms, etc)
  • Add work with Coaching Directors and In-House VP to form teams
  • Assist In-House VP in getting coaching bags, jerseys, and trophies to the Coaches. Ensure return of equipment at the end of the year.
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures
  • Work with the Scheduling Director to address any facility issues (i.e. drinks in gym etc.) that the Community Supervisor brings up

Head Coaches/Assistant Coaches: (1 Head Coach and 1 Assistant Coach per team)

  • Attend the coach’s clinics and training offered by the Association
  • Work with all girls on team to develop the fundamental skills of the game
  • Follow and grade level development drills in practices as outlined by the Coaching Directors
  • Set up and takedown the courts (basket height) for practice or games
  • Follow the EPGBA code of conduct
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures

Coaching manuals and general practice schedules, outlining the basic skills relevant for your players will be provided for you to work from.  No Coaching experience is required! EPGBA's coaching director, Anna Peters, is also available to provide additional resources to coaches on effective practice planning, and how to keep it fun.

Team Managers: (1 Team Manager per team)

  • Facilitate team communications regarding practices/games, any reminders, pictures, etc
  • Coordinate Team Parent on Duty (POD) signup for team
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures

Team Parent on Duty (“POD”):

We are able to allow one additional parent per team at a practice and game to ensure there is adequate supervision and enough adults present to assist with implementation and enforcement of EPGBA’s COVID-19 safety procedures.  The POD is responsible for:

  • Meeting their team outside the facility doors five mins prior to their start time.
  • Escorting players to the gym.
  • After practice wait outside with all players until they have been picked up.
  • Encourage players to social distance when they are not participating in drills/scrimmages.
  • Assist the coaches by taking player temperatures at the start of practice.
  • For games keep the clock and score (if kept in that grade level).

Coordination of POD for a team’s practice and game will be completed by the Team Manager after teams have been formed.
