2020-2021 Season Coaching Staff

Hockey Director

Ian Mc Nally

Ian hails from Guelph, Ontario where he played youth and Jr. hockey before arriving in New Jersey to play with Princeton University.  He has been involved with PYHA as a coach across all age groups since 2005.  He also coaches at The Hun School and lives in Pennington, NJ with his wife Megan and five children.

 

Assistant Hockey Directors

Adam Shemansky

Adam attended Notre Dame High School where he finished as the 6th all-time leading scorer in New Jersey High School Hockey history with 278 points. Adam went on to play four years of Division I college hockey at the University of Maine. Adam has been coaching with Princeton Youth for four seasons and his teams have reached the NJYHL playoffs in all four seasons, including two trips to the Atlantic District championships. Adam is a USA Hockey Certified Level 4 coach and is also an assistant coach at Princeton Day School

 

Nathaniel Welsh

Nathaniel graduated from St Joseph High School in 2013, finishing as the school's 2nd all-time leading scorer with 154 points and was named the Home News Tribune player of the year in 2013. He also captained the 2013 PYHA 18UAA team that advanced to USA Hockey Nationals. Most recently, Nathaniel played 3 years for Cornell University on their ACHA D1 team, acting as captain for that team the past 2 years.  Nathaniel coached the PYHA 16AA teams in the past 2 seasons, taking both teams to the NJYHL playoffs. Nathaniel is also one of our senior skill instructors, helps to coordinate our Tiger Cub program and is a Level IV certified USA Hockey coach.

 

6U/8U Teams

We anticipate fielding 2-3 teams at the 6U/8U level.  Once we have determined that these players have sufficient skills to participate at the travel level, they will be rostered to our program. At this age level, program players will be re-evaluated in August and rostered to specific teams based on skill level as determined by Hockey Director Ian McNally.  Coaches will be assigned to each team following the final skill assessment based on player placement.

10U Teams

We anticipate fielding 3-4 teams which will be separated by skill level at tryouts as determined by Hockey Director Ian McNally and prospective coaches.  The following coaches are committed to coach at the 10U level and will be placed with a team at the conclusion of tryouts based on player placement.

12U Teams

We intend to field 3-4 teams at this level - PWAA, PWA, PWB National and/or PWB American .  Teams will be separated by skill level at tryouts as determined by Hockey Director Ian McNally and prospective coaches.  The following coaches are committed to coach at the 12U level and will be placed with a team at the conclusion of tryouts based on player placement.

14U Teams

We intend to field 3 teams at this level- Bantam AA, Bantam A, and Bantam B.  Teams will be separated by skill level at tryouts as determined by Coaching Director Ian McNally and prospective coaches.

 

Bantam AA Head Coach- Joe Bensky

A former PYHA player, Joe is currently the head varsity boy’s hockey coach at Princeton High School.  He is otherwise a school counselor at Ewing High School as well as a level 4 referee. 

 

Bantam A Head Coach- Ben Bugge

A former PYHA player, Ben is currently the assistant varsity boy’s hockey coach for the West Windsor-Plainsboro co-op team.  He also played Junior hockey locally for the NJ Titans and is currently a level 3 referee.

 

Bantam B Head Coach- To Be Determined

16U Teams

We intend to field one team at this level-16U AA.  

 

16AA Head Coach - Nathaniel Welsh:
