The Spartans compete against other youth organizations in the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL).  The Spartans offer tackle football for kids ages 6 (1st grade) through age 13/14 (8th grade).  Our goal is to teach the fundamentals of football and promote sportsmanship.  If you are looking to have your child learn the fundamentals of football and have fun, you are in the right place!  Come join us and become a Spartan!

Formed and operating since 1988, Spartan Youth Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who utilizes community volunteers and youth sports to foster a positive learning environment in which children can develop mental, physical and emotional growth. By promoting commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship, children of all ages and ability gain confidence and learn life-long lessons.

Spartan Youth Club - Youth Come First!

Rookie Tackle Football (RFL):

The Spartans is extremely excited to continue offering our ROOKIE TACKLE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. RFL’s first season was fall of 2019.  The Arapahoe Youth League (AYL), Rookie Tackle Football League (RFL) has been designed as a bridge between Flag football and our traditional competitive tackle football program.  The RFL is focused on grades from 1st-3rd only, provides full tackle experience, and is limited to 8 players per side and smaller roster sizes. Rosters are limited to 16 players and fill up fast, we recommend registering as soon as possible for RFL.  Equal play required for all players! No Special Teams play, kick offs or punts! RFL is played on a 60 yard by 40-yard field (same as 4th grade).  Games are 20 plays per quarter at 1st & 2nd grade, 22 players per quarter for 3rd grade. Coaches on the field for both offense and defense.  No Blitzing allowed and full run and pass offenses allowed. The elimination of Special Teams play improves the safety of the game by removing the potential of long runs with two players colliding at high speed for the tackle.  The establishment of equal play provides the best possible development aspect for players new to tackle football.

Our AFC division is considered the beginner/intermediate division, for grades 4th-8th.  This is a great division for beginner players and players that are experienced.  While our AFC division is still very competitive, it focuses on teaching the fundamentals of football, while having fun.   Many players and families prefer to stay on an AFC team for the duration of playing with Spartans.  Our AFC division competes in the Arapahoe Youth League, against other very competitive teams.  We guarantee each player 20 plays per game, this is a good amount of game time per child.  Most children will play more than this, this is just the minimum plays required.  If you’re looking for a competitive and fun program for your child, our AFC division is for your family.

Our NFC division is considered our competitive/elite division, for grades 4th-8th.  Our NFC division is for players that have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in tackle football.   This division provides the highest level of competition in Colorado and the Spartans are a powerhouse.  Prior to each football season, our NFC teams hold tryouts for interested players.  These tryouts are posted on our website, social media page and emailed out.  Players and families must have the drive and dedication to want to play at the highest competitive level.  We guarantee each player 16 plays per game. Teams are rostered by the team’s coaches; all players must be invited to play at this level.  Our goal at Spartans is to have every player and coach strive to make it to an NFC team.

Football equipment can be purchased at any sporting goods store.  Spartans official colors are purple, gray and gold. Our football teams wear our reversible jerseys, these can be purchased at our store or online.  All teams must have our official jersey, there will be no custom jerseys.  Helmets are Spartan gloss purple with black facemask, purple, white or gray pants (coaches will inform you of color) and game socks (also from coaches.  Equipment needed, helmet, shoulder pads, pants and pads, game jerseys, socks, mouthpiece and cleats. *NOTE clear and/or white colored mouth guards are not allowed for games.  We recommend you not purchase any gear, until you’re certain your child has been placed on a team or you have been contacted by your coach.  The Spartans will not be responsible for the reimbursement of any costs associated with the purchase of any equipment in the event your child cannot be placed on a team.

Player Safety:

Spartan Youth Club is committed to player safety.  Our coaches have been trained in concussions and concussion awareness, as well as First Aid and CRP.  Here at Spartans, your child’s safety is our number one priority.  As with any sport, we encourage your child to have a physical exam, with your physician.  Please make sure you complete this, before signing up/participating in tackle football.

Refund Policy:

Spartan Youth Club understands that occasionally, a player may need to withdraw from registration. Due to unforeseen circumstances, you may need to request a refund.  Refunds must be made in writing and submitted to April at sportsadmin@spartanyouthclub.com. We can review refund requests prior to the start of a season (first regular season practice), if approved, a $25.00 administrative fee with be applied.  After the season starts, we have a no-refund policy. Registration fees are based on a variety of costs.  These fees are determined by AYL player costs, permits, insurance etc.  Due to our sports seasons accruing costs prior to the start of the season, we pay in advance for our players.  Player withdrawals still result in an out of pocket cost to the Spartan Youth Club, so NO refund will be issued after the start of a season.  No exceptions!
