When players reach the age of 13 (as of April 30) they are no longer eligible for play on the little league diamond (60 ft base paths). Player safety as well as development dictates the timing of this transition. It is a significant transition and quite entertaining to watch players reactions when they step on to the big diamond (90 ft base paths) to play for the first time. Suddenly a throw across the diamond is 127 ft (not 84), a solid line drive to right field that drops is probably an out as it is now a 90 ft run and a 30 ft shorter throw for the fielder.
Bat Specifications:
Minuteman BR League or Patriot Fall League: USA Baseball stamped bats are allowed
Middle and High School baseball: must be BBCor certified, both Drop 3 and does not exceed 2 5/8 inches diameter
Babe Ruth League: must be BBCor certified bats
Little League: must have a USA Baseball stamp
What is a Drop 3 bat?
To be labeled a BBCor or Drop 3 baseball bat, the equipment must have a barrel that is 2 5/8" or smaller in diameter combined with a maximum -3 length to weight ratio. This ratio is referred to as the drop of the bat and it provides information on the bat's length in inches and its weight in ounces. If a bat is 31 inches in length then it will weigh 28 ounces.
Cleats:
High School: Metal cleats are permitted
All other Leagues: Metal cleats are NOT permitted
CCYB participates in the Minuteman Babe Ruth League (www.mmbrl.com) in the spring and summer, and the Patriot Babe Ruth League in the fall. Both leagues comprise of teams from surrounding towns.
Spring:
CC and Bedford run a league in the spring meant to provide a local, fast and fun environment to further the understanding and enjoyment of the game for all players. To be eligible, players must 13 to 16U eligible. Games are on Wednesday and Sunday, with an all-league clinic on a weeknight. The season starts at the end of April vacation and concludes with playoffs in early June.
Summer:
Minuteman Recreational baseball is a 13 – 16 year old league that plays 2 games per week beginning the last week of June with playoffs beginning the first week of August. 16 year old players are not allowed to pitch.
Fall (Season begins in September after Labor Day):
Patriot League is a recreational league for 7th - 9th graders. Games Saturday or Sunday morning. Teams tend to be large to allow for schedule conflicts. Age
