Brad Bard – Head Freshmen Coach
Brad Bard is the head coach for the Blue Knights freshman football team this season. He is in his 8th year as the Head Freshmen Coach. Brad played football for the Southington High School team for three years, graduating in 1996. He was named the MVP on the defensive team in the 1996 Thanksgiving Day game.
Coach Brad was also assistant coach for Southington Travel Football in 2002, head coach for travel football from 2003-2010, and the assistant coach for St. Paul Catholic High School’s varsity team from 2010-2011, where he also coached the running backs, defensive backs, and was the head coach for the junior varsity team. Brad is the owner of a construction company called Bard & Son LLC.
Glenn Messenger – Assistant Freshmen Coach
Glenn Messenger is entering his 8th year as the offensive line coach for the Blue Knights. Coach Glenn played football for Southington High School from 1982-1984. He graduated Southington High in 1985. Coach Glenn played offensive and defensive line for the legendary 1984 team his senior year, which went 10-0 and played for the State Championship.
The 1984 team was ranked 17th in the country according to USA Today. Coach Glenn served as an assistant coach for the Southington High JV Team from 1986-1987. He then became a head coach at SVMFL from 1990 to 1993. He has been an assistant coach for the Southington Knights Travel Football for the past eight years.
Scott Putnam - Assistant Freshmen Coach
Scott Putnam is in his 3rd year as offensive line coach for the Blue Knights Freshman football team. Coach Putnam is a lifelong resident of Southington and he graduated from Southington High school in 1992. While at SHS, he played football and was two-time Offensive line player of the year and was also voted All Conference. After High School Coach Putnam played football for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.
Coach Putnam has also been coaching at the youth level for over 14 years with Southington Knights travel football and currently serves as Vice President for Shoreline Youth Football Conference. Coach Putnam views coaching as a golden opportunity to teach our youth skills and values that they can carry with them through life, such as physical and mental toughness, perseverance and accountability.
Coach Putnam lives in town with his wife Josie. They have four sons, Scott Jr, Michael, Johnathan and Luke.
Denny Andreoni - Assistant Freshmen Coach
Denny is in his 8th Year Coaching with the Blue Knights. He lives in Southington where he graduated in 2000.
He played football at Southington High School where he was a part of the1998 state title team. Denny currently works at Central CT Lawn Service and a baseball umpire in Southington.
