Rochester Coalition Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
1.Why should I choose the Rochester Coalition for my player?
Since its formation, the Rochester Coalition has become the area’s premier player development program. The Coalition began as a working relationship between Tier I Rochester Youth Hockey and the Tier II Rochester Grizzlies Hockey Associations. By adding working relationships with Evolve Hockey for team and individual player development and Bill Gray's for Learn to Play and other hockey programs, the Coalition is now ready to take our program to the next level!
2. When are tryouts for the Rochester Coalition Teams?
Tryouts for the 23-24 season have concluded. Dates for the 24-25 season will be release in late winter.
3. Will my player need a release for tryouts?
No, NYSAHA has stated that all players will be granted an automatic release unless they still owe their previous organization money. The only way this would not occur is if a family has not met their financial commitments. A list of players that have not met their financial commitments will be provided to NYSAHA blocking those families from registering anywhere else until they have met their financial commitments. The automatic release will go into effect approximately one week before tryouts.
4. What uniforms will the teams be wearing?
Our uniforms will remain the same this season. Dates for uniform orders are forthcoming.
5.The Rochester Coalition is High School friendly. What does that mean?
Many players look forward to playing for their High School hockey team each year. Playing for their school and in front of their student body is a great experience and we continue to support that opportunity. That being said, our Roco teams at the bantam major and midget levels are highly competitive teams and require full commitment from all of the players and families. We are a high school friendly team which means that you can play high school when it does not conflict with ROCO games. You are able to miss a Roco practice for a High School game, but missing a Roco game is not permitted.
6.What will the Rochester Coalition training plans and budgets include?
All training plans are slightly different and generally follow the USA Hockey Competitive Guidelines. Please remember the training plans are guidelines only; meaning most of the time your team should be getting what the ice plan presented to your team. At times there are complications and unforeseen circumstances such as the availability of ice that may impact schedules. Our scheduler will do her best to stick to the training plan as set forth but it is a guide. Regardless, your team will receive the amount of ice planned for your team even if it requires a schedule modification to make that happen.
