Drexel Hill Raiders Lacrosse Covid Safety Plan

Response to Covid-19 Warnings, Risks and Precautions:

Drexel Hill Raiders Lacrosse’s first priority is the health and safety of all our participants, spectators, coaches and attendees. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep everyone updated about what we feel is the best course of action. The following are some risks warnings all attendees should be aware of:

  1. It is suggested that those with compromised immune systems not participate in or attend practices or games due to risk of infection.
  2. Do not attend practices or games if you are exhibiting any signs of illness such as sneezing, coughing, sniffling, have a fever, or generally are just feeling unwell.
  3. All players, coaches and spectators should practice responsible social distancing by remaining at least 6 ft apart whenever possible.
  4. All players, coaches and spectators should wear PPE such as face masks that cover the nose and mouth.
  5. Wash your hands and or use hand sanitizer before attending a practice or game.
  6. Avoid touching your face including your eyes, nose and mouth

The following are steps we expect all players, spectators and coaches to take before, during and after attending the event to mitigate the risks of spreading any germs or sickness:

  1. Social Distancing: All players, coaches, staff and spectators should practice social distancing of 6 ft wherever possible. Of course, this won’t apply to players while engaging in their games
  2. Temperature Checks: Players and spectators are expected to take their temperature before leaving their house and they should remain home with any reading of 100.4 Fahrenheit or higher according to CDC parameters.
  3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): All coaches, staff, players, and spectators should wear face masks covering their nose and mouth whenever on the premises of a practice or game.
  4. Water: Water will not be placed on fields, players should bring water bottles with them for the duration of practices or games and should not share with any other individuals
  5. No Handshakes/Celebrations: With social distancing practices, players and coaches should refrain from handshakes, high fives, or any celebrations that could result in contact
  6. Unsupervised participants (siblings and pets) will not be permitted at any practice or game.
  7. Players and families should vacate the field/facility within 15 minutes after the conclusion of their game or practice.

The following are steps coaches and players will be taking before, during, and after attending the event to help mitigate the risks of spreading any germs or sickness:

  1. It is required that all who attend practice or a game wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth. This includes players, coaches and spectators.  Those who are not wearing any type of face covering will be offered masks to wear or kindly asked to leave the premises.
  2. We ask kindly that you limit the number of spectators who will be attending the event. Each player should be accompanied by no more than 2 people to help limit the size of crowds and to mitigate the risks of contracting Covid-19.
  3. There will be no communal water jugs placed on fields, sidelines or water fountains available for use during the event.  Please come prepared with water bottles, and do not share used drinks with others
  4. Additionally, there will be no concessions or vendors at our event to limit the gathering of crowds or close interactions between people.
  5. Masks will be available for those who forget or lose theirs
  6. As recommended by the CDC, during games and practices athletes should do their best to maintain 6 feet of distance from other players, coaches and officials will wear a face mask that covers nose and mouth, during lacrosse games and activity. When interacting with other people in a public setting, off the field, all athletes should wear cloth face coverings and maintain appropriate social distancing.

  1. For helmet wearers, face shields are not endorsed or recommended by US Lacrosse – but they may be worn, if the manufacturer of the shield has received approval by the helmet manufacturer that the shield is being worn in. This is to ensure proper fit and stability. Manufacturers of helmets may design, develop and test face shields within the parameters of all applicable rulebooks and standards for use in their brand of helmets.
  2. Coaches should maintain a contact list for all players, coaches and officials as well as a record of games played for contact tracing purposes.
  3. Mouthguards should be kept in athletes’ mouths at all times during practices and games. When removed, mouthguards should be kept in a protective case, and cleaned before future use. Hands used to touch a removed mouthguard should be sanitized before touching anything or anyone.
  4. No spitting will be permitted anywhere at event.
  5. Modifications to game play will be considered to minimize contact and extended closeness.
  6. Field layout will provide room for teams to spread out along sidelines and spectators to spread out in spectator areas, and in between fields there should be no gathering areas for teams or spectators.

GUIDANCE FOR WHEN SOMEONE GETS SICK/ TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 – AT OR AFTER EVENT (From CDC)

  1. Sick coaches, staff members, umpires/officials, or players should not return to event until they have met CDC’s criteria to discontinue home isolation.
  2. Isolate and transport those who are sick
  3. Make sure that coaches, staff, officials, players, and families know that sick individuals should not attend the youth sports event, and that they should notify youth sports officials (e.g., the COVID-19 point of contact) if they (staff) or their child (families) become sick with COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 symptoms or a confirmed or suspected case.
  4. Immediately separate coaches, staff, officials, and players with COVID-19 symptoms (i.e., fever, cough, shortness of breath) at any youth sports activity. Individuals who are sick should go home or to a healthcare facility, depending on how severe their symptoms are, and follow CDC guidance for caring for oneself and others who are sick. Individuals who have had close contact with a person who has symptoms will be separated and sent home as well, and follow CDC guidance for community-related exposure (see “Notify Health Officials and Close Contacts” below). If symptoms develop, individuals and families should follow CDC guidance for caring for oneself and others who are sick.
  5. Establish procedures for safely transporting anyone who is sick to their home or to a healthcare facility. If you are calling an ambulance or bringing someone to the hospital, try to call first to alert them that the person may have COVID-19.
  6. In accordance with state and local privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations, youth sports organizations should notify local health officials, youth sports program staff, umpires/officials, and families immediately of any case of COVID-19 while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws and regulations.

Advise those who have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 to stay home and self-monitor for symptoms, to follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop, and consider contacting their healthcare provider.

Please note, all above steps to mitigating risks will be enforced to the best of our ability. We do retain the right to ask those who are not complying with these health and safety precautions to leave the facility.
