Player Selection

It is possible that not all players trying out will make a 12u team. Roster size will be dependent on levels of commitment required for each.
Additionally, out of town players may try out and might be selected by either team, however the focus remains on developing NC players.

For players looking to take softball above the rec experience by approaching skill development and teamwork from a higher level and facing more distant competition. Roster could be more than 12, depending on availability of players throughout the year.
|
More skilled/experienced players that are particularly committed to the sport of softball in spring and summer. These players will be available for all weekends of play in June and July and will make softball the priority over other sports, vacation, etc. This roster size anticipated to be 11-13.

Large Scale Competitive Events

Tournaments:
Usually Sat/Sun events. Standard format is 3 pool play games on Saturday used for seeding the single game elimination round on Sunday.

Approx. 5 total tournaments with breakdown as follows:
1 Fall; 1-2 Spring; 3 Summer
1 may require overnight travel.

8-10 total tournaments with breakdown as follows:
1-2 Fall; 1 Winter; 2-3 Spring; 5-6 Summer
1-3 may require overnight travel.

Jamboree:
Multiple teams gather to play 3+ games in a single day.

1 Fall; 1 Winter; 1 Spring (assumes availability)

Estimate includes prof. coaching costs for one head coach only, additional prof. asst. coaches will increase the cost, tournament and umpire fees, uniforms, town facility fees, equipment, indoor rental space and specialized instruction.
Does not include rec fee, overnight accommodations or travel costs.
Sponsorship and fundraising will be sought to help defray cost to the extent the team families organize and support such activities.
