The Rochester Junior Americans are committed to providing consistent and constructive player development while emphasizing the fun of playing the game.

On June 11 the second phase of player registration will open for 2020-2021 season travel teams. The process is different this year, as we will form our travel teams prior to holding tryouts in accordance with the new schedule released by our USA Hockey affiliate. The following explains our registration and player selection process in more detail.

We will accept player registrations online beginning Thursday, June 11, at 9 a.m. for AAA, AA and girls teams from 8U-13U and 14U-18U AA teams. For a list of travel teams for next season along with the corresponding registration date click here.

Registration closes on Tuesday, June 30, at 5 p.m. We encourage you to register your player as soon as possible once registration opens so coaches have enough time to thoroughly evaluate all who register for a team.

All players, both returning players and players who wish to join the Jr. Amerks from other organizations, must register to be considered for a travel team next season. Registration is free.

At this time, registration is for travel players only. We will have a process for registering house players when we are able to hold on-ice evaluations.

Player Selection and Notification

Even without tryouts, our player selection process will be the same as in years’ past. Our goal is to place players on teams most suitable for their development as hockey players. Travel team rosters will be determined by the head coach of each team with assistance from the Jr. Amerks hockey committee.

Coaches may select players at any point during the open registration period. If your player is selected to join a travel team you will receive notification via email from the head coach of the team.

The Jr. Amerks will notify all registrants of their status via email by June 30.

Player Commitment Forms

If your player is selected for a travel team, you will receive a commitment form from the head coach of the team that must be completed by the end of the registration period. This year, all player commitments will be collected via an online form. The commitment form will serve as the player’s contract with the team for the 2020-2021 season. Your player cannot be cut from the team once the commitment form is signed.

Commitment forms are due by June 30 at 5 p.m. There is no deposit required to sign a player commitment form.

We intend to hold tryouts, but only for travel teams with unfilled rosters at the end of the registration period. Tryout dates will be announced later once we receive clearance to hold USA Hockey sanctioned events.

Thank you for your patience and your support as we navigate through this process. We have updated our 2020-2021 season FAQ in effort to address your questions. Any questions about a specific team should be directed to the head coach. You can find a list of coaches here.
