Highlander Youth Tackle Football is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside students in grades 3-8. Players are assigned to the following team levels based on grade, but consideration can also be given to playing experience and ability.

Competitive Levels - score-keeping, playoffs, and a Super Bowl

Instructional Level - live games teaching fundamentals in a competitive environment

The season begins mid-August with summer practices Monday-Thursday evenings at Snyder Field. Practices are held 2-3 times per week once school begins. The season runs until mid-November. Teams will play a total of 8 regular season games – typically scheduled on Sunday mornings and afternoons.

Highlander Youth Tackle Football is a member of the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League (NJSYFL), a 22-team league made up two divisions organized by towns of similar populations to ensure competitive play. Please visit the league website at http://www.njsyfl.com

The BHPAL, NJSYFL, and USA Football remain committed to player safety and regularly review and adopt proposed rule changes and training techniques for a safer game.

Registration for 2020 season begins in May.
