EVALUATION DAY LOOKS LIKE THIS:

  1. Players should arrive at least 30 minutes before assigned time slot. Upon arrival at Cooks, go to the tables near the playground.
  2. Each player should check-in to receive a player's name tag AND get fitted for uniform.
  3. NOTE: Players MUST GET FITTED and sign off on the sizing for their jersey and sweatshirts. Note that jerseys, sweatshirts and socks are included in the registration price. Black softball pants are NOT included and should be purchased. There will be 2 stations for uniform fitting.

  4. If a player does not get fitted and does not sign off, and the uniform does not fit, then player will be responsible for the purchase of a new one. If it is impossible for a player to get fitted on January 11th, we will order the size indicated on her registration. You were asked to indicate a size for sweatshirt and jersey when you registered your player. You can check/change the sizes that you indicated by logging into your capogirls.com account.

  5. After sign-in and uniform fitting, players can go to the field designated for their evaluation to warm-up. Field assignments are:

    • 12U: Field 1

    • 10U: Field 2

    • 8U: Field 3

    • 6U: No evaluations but should come for uniform fitting between 9-12:00.

The girls will do this in their evaluation:

Players will be asked to field balls from shortstop and 2nd base with throws to 1st base. They will be asked to catch pop flies, hit a few pitches, and run the bases. Please tell your daughter that there is nothing to be nervous about and to have fun. Every girl will be on a team and the evaluations are only for us to check out her skills and balance the teams. Note that experienced pitchers in 8U,10U and 12U and catchers in 10U and 12U should attend the designated two consecutive windows of time for pitchers/catchers for pitching/catching evaluation AND also fielding/hitting for their age division. Experienced pitchers/hitters will NOT attend the fielding/hitting evaluation based on last name since they will be evaluated on fielding/hitting at the end of their pitching evaluation.

PITCHERS-NOTE THIS HAS CHANGED THIS SEASON!

Experienced pitchers in 8U, 10U and 12U divisions must attend the evaluation designated for “Experienced Pitchers” at the beginning of their division’s time block in order to pitch for their team this season. Experienced pitchers will attend a pitching evaluation AND then a fielding hitting evaluation immediately after. They should NOT attend the fielding/hitting evaluation for their last name since they will be evaluated on fielding/hitting at the end of their pitching evaluation. What is an “experienced” pitcher? We are defining “experienced” as anyone that has pitched for at least one full inning in a game OR that has been taking private pitching lessons in recent months.

NOTE: WE WANT NEW PITCHERS! Girls that are interested in pitching this season but have not ever pitched or taken a lesson are invited to attend a FREE Beginner’s Pitching Clinic that will be held TWICE on January 11th Evaluation Day. A separate email will be sent with details. Beginner pitchers that choose to attend the pitching clinic must ALSO attend their fielding/hitting evaluation designated for their division and last name. Beginner pitchers are NOT required to do the experienced pitching evaluation for their age division.

      EXPERIENCED AND BEGINNER CATCHERS

Girls that are in the 10U and 12U divisions that are interested in catching, or that are hoping to start catching this season, will be asked to put on catcher's gear and be evaluated on their catching skills during the designated time for 10U or 12U “Experienced Pitchers/Catchers.” This is IN ADDITION to their batting and fielding evaluation. Your player should bring her own catcher's gear if she has it. If she does not, the league will provide a few sets for girls to be evaluated.

Finally, here are evaluations times listed by division and indicated by the first two letters of the player’s LAST NAME or if they are an experienced pitcher/catcher:
