The league was established in 1958 as an organization formed to provide a program for the youth of the Pleasant Hill area in cooperation with the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District, the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and Diablo Valley College.

Join PHBA at the 4th of July Parade and join PHBA and the city of Pleasant Hill in celbrating our own uber-volunteer, ROB BASSLER!

This year will be extra special as we'll be celebrating our country's Independence Day and saying a special thank you to our very own head commissioner, Rod Bassler. That handsome gentleman on the cover page of your Pleasant Hill Outlook magazine that just arrived in the mail, yup, that's Rod! And he's being honored by the PH 4th of July Commission as the Grand Marshall in this year's parade for his many incredible contributions to the Pleasant Hill community.

Details as follows:

  • Assembly Time & Location: This year our group is entry #8, so we will be among the very first groups in the parade. Parade starts at 9:30AM, so we'll be assembling at 8:45AM. Assembly location for our group is along Cleveland Road (across from PH Park and stretching down on Woodsworth Ln to Contra Costa Blvd). Participants can simply walk to the staging area through the park or from the area around City Hall. Do not do drop-offs on Contra Costa Blvd.
  • Upon Arrival: No check-in required. Look for a bunch of kids in baseball uniforms or adults in PHBA gear if you're having a hard time finding us.
  • What to Wear: Baseball/Softball uniform (jersey and hat/visor, baseball pants/socks strongly encouraged, and comfortable shoes). Remember to accessorize with any PHBA bling, including All Star medals and championship rings.
  • Parade Route: The parade will start at our staging area just outside the park, and end at Sequoia Middle School.
  • Ending Time: Expect the parade itself to take about 45 minutes, give or take for any delays. Plan to pick-up your player at or near the end of the parade route.
  • Candy: PHBA will NOT be providing candy to players this year. If you want to bring your own supply of candy for your player to hand out along the parade, feel free to do so. But instruct your player to not chuck 95 mph fastballs of candy to the crowd. Candy must be gently handed to kids along the parade route. No throwing candy!!!
  • Other: Properly prepare your parade participant with bottled water, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes.

Bottom line: America + PHBA + Your Kids + Rod Bassler + Parade = FUN! FUN! FUN! Don't miss this super fun 4thof July tradition, and don't miss your chance to say thank you to Rod. We're going to have a great time and rock this parade!
