For girls in fifth and sixth grade.
This division usually runs two teams, A and B. Optional skill evaluations are held to select the players committed to play in a more competitive environment on the A team. Evaluations are usually held in February or March before the season begins.
SEASON: March to the end of May.
PRACTICES: The 5/6 practices are held one to two nights a week in Carpenter Park (practice nights and times are determined by the coaches and weather permitting).
GAMES: Each team will play 6 to 8 regular season games and we try to do one Playday. MOST games will be on Saturday mornings with a possible Friday night or Sunday afternoon game. The 5/6 teams travel to other local clubs as well as play on our home field in Carpenter Park.
UNIFORMS: Each player will be given a uniform for the season which consists of a reversible jersey and skirt. Uniforms will be collected at the end of the season.
To ensure a prompt return of uniforms, a $100 deposit check will be collected when we hand out uniforms. This is separate from registration. Your coach will send out a notice when uniforms will be distributed.
Your check will be held until your players uniform is returned at the end of the season. Please make every effort to RETURN the uniform promptly so our volunteers do not have to chase it down when the season is over. THANK YOU!
GEAR: Your player will be required to have a Womens Lacrosse Stick, solid colored mouthguard (no white or clear), ASTM 3077 approved eyewear (goggles) and a water bottle for every practice and game. Cleats are preferred but not required.
Play Description: HGLC follows the PAGLA East rules and directives, which adopts most US Lacrosse rules and regulations. Players are on a full field and play 12v12 with goalies. The 5/6 division follows the Modified Check Rule (checking below the shoulder only). Good defensive body positioning is encouraged.
The 5/6s focus on developing and improving fundamental skills and learn offensive and defensive strategies, progressing to fine-tune the fundamentals and work together as a team on the field.
Please note that at this level player participation is strongly encouraged.
Coaches for both teams are committed to providing players with organized practices and count on a full roster for games. Player attendance is strongly recommended for the benefit of player and team improvement.
