The New York State Amateur Hockey Association update of August 19, 2020, addressed the sanctioning of hockey activities taking place within the State of New York under the State of New York health and safety regulations. The New York State Amateur Hockey Association did not address participating in USA Hockey-sanctioned activities outside of New York State because the sanctioning of those activities is within the purview of the USA Hockey Affiliate where they occur.
It is the understanding of the New York State Amateur Hockey Association that traveling out of New York State, and/or the Region of the State of New York where the team is registered, to participate in hockey activities, may violate current State of New York regulations even if such activities are permitted in the state where they are taking place. If teams or participants travel out of New York State, they would be subject to any applicable State of New York quarantine requirements, and may be subject to penalties by the State of New York if it determines that such travel violated the current health regulations. At this time, the New York State Amateur Hockey Association does not intend to take disciplinary action for participating in sanctioned activities in another Affiliate unless the State of New York issues a more clear directive on the subject.
