Program Description and Guidelines:

5th - 8th grades:

  • Roster sizes will vary based on number of registrants per grade
  • Structure (A, B, C or A, B1, B2) and number of teams per grade will be based on each grade's registration numbers
  • 3 team practices during the week and up to 2 travel games per weekend
  • If a player misses the practice immediately preceding a game, they will not start in the game
  • Play to Develop - winning is a high priority, but second to developing good long term skills
  • Play time is based on coach's discretion, informed by ability, attitude, effort, sportsmanship and coachability

3rd - 4th grades:

  • Players are grouped according to their enrolled school grade and girls will be split into equal teams
  • 2 midweek practices and house games (no travel) on weekend.  Girls will be given equal playing time in games.
  • Players are encouraged to attend both midweek practices but we understand there will be conflicts.
  • Coached by parent volunteers, based on a professionallly developed curriculum
  • Season culminates in June with the New Canaan Jamboree

K - 2nd grades:

  • Players are grouped according to their enrolled school grade
  • Focus will be on learning to love the game of lacrosse, basic skills and understanding positions. Catching, throwing, scooping, shooting. Fun contests and small field games will evolve in the season.
  • Coached by parent volunteers, based on a professionallly developed curriculum
  • 1 hour Saturday morning sessions, time TBD; possibility of Sunday morning sessions as well
  • Schedule is subject to change based on coach availability & field space.
