I played travel hockey in the Buffalo area, including four years of varsity hockey at Hamburg (two years as team captain). Played for Buffalo Saints Selects '81 team for two years, including the 98-99 NY State Midget Tier I championship team. With decades of experience in the game of hockey in Western New York, I am most fortunate to have learned from many excellent coaches, teammates, family members, and friends. I have been coaching ROCO mites/premites for the last three years and am very excited to coach our 10U girls this year. As a coach first and foremost I am committed to improving the skills of our players and getting them ready for the next level of hockey. There is so much more that I have taken from the game and will give to my players – learning how to be a good teammate, accountability to one’s self and others, a strong work-ethic, just to name a few. Such core principles will benefit our players throughout their lives. While it is great to see how far WNY girls hockey has come since I played youth hockey, there is still much work to be done. I am excited to help in continuing to grow the game in Rochester!
We will have two team practices a week. In addition, the girls will have a team skills clinic every other week (Monday nights at Village Sports) and an all-Edge clinic (on a night when we already have practice at Bill Gray’s). All Edge goalies will also receive dedicated goalie training.
Our season will run from the Tuesday after Labor Day through the first week of March. We aim to play our team in the WNYAHL Squirt travel league. We are planning for 3-4 tournaments, most in the Rochester/Buffalo area and maybe 1 out of town where we aim to travel with every girls team in the association. We will also be playing an independent girls schedule and plan to arrange one or more jamboree weekends with outside organizations (e.g. Philadelphia Junior Flyers, etc.).
