In this section we’ll be outlining our amazing boys summer travel program for players currently enrolled in grades 4 through 8. This program is open to returning Dragons travel players, as well as new players that participate in our tryout process (see below). We are very proud of what we have put together for the summer and we look forward to your participation.

Our Teams:
Dragons 4/5 Blue (2024/25): This team is for players in 4th or 5th grade in the current school year. We are looking to add 4-5 qualified players at different positions to the roster via our supplemental tryouts (see below). Please keep in mind that this team is for advanced players only. It operates at a very high level for its age and has already won a major West Coast tournament. Coaches are James Burton and Kevin Hinton (click HERE to see coaches bios). Dragons 6 Blue (2023): This team is for players in 6th grade in the current school year. This team represents a mix of very experienced and very athletic players. It is new to the Dragons line-up but already showing a lot of promise. We will add several advanced players at different positions to the roster via our supplemental tryouts (see below). Dragons 7 Blue (2022): This team is for players in 7th grade in the current school year. It has a solid core and we are primarily looking to add tough, strong and athletic defensemen and midfielders. Dragons 8 Blue (2021): This team is for players in 8th grade in the current school year. 8 Blue is the best in its age group in LA with very limited openings. If you feel that you are a top players at your position and would like to play with us, please attend our supplemental tryouts (see below). Tryouts:
The Dragons model is based on steadily developing players and teams over time. We generally do not take apart and reassemble teams via a tryout process. Instead, we add players to each team based on our specific openings. If you are presently not playing with Dragons but would like to do so in the summer, you need to attend one of our practices so our coaches can evaluate you. There is no tryout fee. Below is a list of dates and times for each team.
4/5 Blue: Friday, April 21 - 6:30pm to 8pm & Friday, April 28 - 6:30pm to 8pm
6 Blue: Friday, April 21 - 6:30pm to 8pm & Friday, April 28 - 6:30pm to 8pm

The Retreat:
Part of our mission is to develop players into complete athletes. To this end we've held many athletics sessions and we constantly emphasize fitness. By organizing our first-ever retreat at the Sports Academy, we're taking this approach to the next level and exposing our players to the most sophisticated physical and mental training available today. Players will spend 2 days at the facility and we'll hold a lacrosse practice at the end of each day. This is an all-inclusive program included in the summer package.

Additional Skills Clinic:
The Denver Shootout will host a FREE clinic to any interested player on Friday June 16th, 2017 from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The clinic is also open to the public. The clinic will be run by Division I and III college coaches and is open to both boys and girls at all ages and positions. To register your player for the clinic please CLICK HERE.
All Star Game Information:
The college coaches attending the Denver Shootout select All-Stars in each high school division, as well as the 2021 division, to play in an All-Star Game which takes place on Saturday evening. College coaches will also coach the teams during the all-star games. The names of the players selected for the All-Star teams will be posted online and at the tournament on Saturday. All players selected should meet on the field 15 minutes prior to the game to get their All-Star Game jerseys and meet their coaches. Weather Policy:
Please CLICK HERE to see the tournament weather policy. Unlike sunny SoCal, it isn't always sunny in Denver. Make sure to check the weather for the weekend before you start packing. If it calls for rain we advise you to bring extra socks, large trash bags (for putting your bags in), zip-lock baggies for your cell phone, umbrellas, and raincoats. The college coaches attending the Riptide at Oceanside will select All-Stars in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 divisions, to play in one All-Star Game which takes place on Saturday evening. College coaches will also coach the teams during the All-Star game. Directions
Beginning June 1, the Marine Way entrance will be closed to allow for construction work for the future Marine Way extension. To enter the park for, please use the Trabuco Road entrance, off of Sand Canyon between the I-5 and Irvine Boulevard. This entrance will serve as the main entrance to the Great Park until construction is complete on Marine Way
In the event of adverse weather or unplayable field conditions, the Events Director reserves the right to
Reduce game times in order to catch up with the schedule.
Finish game before inclement weather arrives, or to preserve field conditions
Reschedule games, if possible.
Convert tournament to a “Festival” format (reduction of minimum game number) without playoffs or championships to provide the majority of teams the opportunity to play as many games as possible.
Every attempt will be made to update cancellations on the website. However, the weather conditions can change rapidly and all teams should be prepared to play as soon as weather clears and fields are playable.
If lightning is observed at any location, play will be suspended immediately. If it is the second hald, the game will be considered final and the score at that point will be recorded. If it is the first half, when play resumes it will be the start of the second half. Every attempt will be made to begin subsequent games on times. If the start of the second half suspended game delays the onset of the subsequent game the following actions will occur:
The game suspended will play one 20 minute running half
Subsequent games will begin immediately after proceeding games (teams will warm up on the sideline prior). These games will consist of two 20 minute running halves until games are back on schedule.
Once games are back on schedule they will revert to two 25 minute running time periods.
