The Grassroots Course is offered by U.S. Soccer Digital Coaching Center - a state of the art online educational platform

What To Expect

  • In order to register for the course, candidates will first be required to sign up for a user account in the U.S. Soccer Digital Coaching Center. There is no cost to sign up. Interested parties may sign up by clicking here
     
  • The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. However, candidates can pause, rewind, or restart the webinars as often as needed.
     
  • After registering and the Introduction course is completed, candidates are granted access to the course content for 12 months. The course may be successfully completed at any time during this 12-month period.

Course Curriculum

The Grassroots Course is broken into four key modules. Each module is a two-hour course that may be completed online.
 

  • 4 v 4: The 4v4 Online Course is a two-hour course that builds on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer's Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module. Specifically, candidates will learn more about U.S. Soccer's Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players aged 6-8. The course will also ask each candidate to reflect on their experiences to develop action steps for personal growth. LSYL will reimburse coaches the $25 cost of taking the 4 vs 4 module when provided proof of course completion.
     
  • 7 v 7: The 7v7 Online Course is a two-hour course that builds on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer's Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module. Specifically, candidates will learn more about U.S. Soccer's Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players aged 9-10. The course will also ask each candidate to reflect on their experiences to develop action steps for personal growth.
     
  • 9 v 9: The 9v9 Online Course is a two-hour course that builds on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer's Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module. Specifically, candidates will learn more about U.S. Soccer's Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players aged 11-12. The course will also ask each candidate to reflect on their experiences to develop action steps for personal growth.
     
  • 11 v 11: The 11v11 Online Course is a two-hour course that builds on the principles covered in U.S. Soccer's Introduction to Grassroots Coaching Module. Specifically, candidates will learn more about U.S. Soccer's Grassroots Coaching Education Philosophy, Play-Practice-Play Methodology, the Six Tasks of a Coach, and the characteristics of players aged 13 and older. The course will also ask each candidate to reflect on their experiences to develop action steps for personal growth. Following each webinar, candidates are required to complete a series of multiple-choice questions. To successfully complete each webinar, all checks for understanding must be answered correctly. To maximize comprehension and facilitate learning, candidates will have multiple attempts to correctly answer all questions.
