Responding to Medical Situations 

If a child has a need for medical attention, it is always better to be safe than sorry. For serious situations, get help immediately.

Having phone numbers does no good if you don’t have your phone! Bring it to all league events and consider investing in a portable battery to run/charge your phone if needed.

3. If the player cannot answer, administer the Heimlich
Signs of Potentially Serious Situations—Call for Help Immediately 
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Significant drowsiness
  • Progressively worsening headache
  • Weakness, numbness, lack of coordination
  • Pupils non-reactive or different size
  • Repeated vomiting
  • Slurred speech
  • Seizure
  • Confusion, inability to recognize people/places
  • Unusual behavior, restlessness, agitation

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to bounce around or twist in the skull, stretching and damaging the brain cells and creating chemical changes in the brain. (cdc.gov)
Common Signs & Symptoms of Concussion


Cuts, Bumps, Bruises
Use First Aid kits for cuts, bumps, bruises, and swelling.  Wear gloves, clean wounds, bandage, clean up blood, apply ice packs.


Knocked Out Tooth

  • Do not touch the root.
  • Put the tooth back in the socket and hold in place with gauze, or place in cool milk or water.
  • Seek immediate dental or emergency room care.
