What additional documentation is needed for registration?
Each athlete must provide a copy of their original birth certificate.
If you are a returning athlete, we should have your birth certificate on file and will need to verify a copy is in our system. We are in the process of creating a spreadsheet of birth certificates on file from previous years. Please be patient with us while we compile this information!
Unless otherwise notified, we encourage returning athletes to have a copy of their birth certificate on hand to turn in at uniform sizing.
Can I pay with a check?
No, HYAA no longer accepts checks as a form of payment (sorry!). Payments can be made in cash or card at sign-ups or online through secure payment system.
Are there any additional costs throughout the season?
HYAA does not and will not require any additional payments outside of registration. However, each team may choose to purchase additional items for their athletes (football & cheer). These items are voluntary and should be agreed upon by the team's parents. Coordination and purchase is typically handled by the Team Mom.
Examples may include: fruit & drinks for halftime refreshments, homecoming float decorations, team party items, October "pink" items for Breast Cancer Awareness month, etc.

Exception: Practices may be scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday the first two weeks of the season, starting August 3rd (when games are not scheduled).
Is there an age limit for participation?
HYAA programs are designed for youth football players and cheerleaders ages 4-12. All age considerations are as of July 31st of the current year. Your athlete must be the age of 4 by August 1, 2020, and cannot be the age of 13 by July 31, 2020 in order to participate.
Is my 7th grader permitted to play with HYAA?
HYAA encourages athletes to play with their school program once they are eligible. However, if they do not participate with their school's program, they can participate with HYAA as long as they meet the age requirement. Dual participation is NOT ALLOWED whatsoever. Should your athlete register with HYAA and start with their school's program, they will be removed from the HYAA roster and registration fees will NOT be refunded.
My child is new to football/cheer. Can we check things out before signing up?
Of course! Informal info sessions will be held during the last weeks of baseball at I.T. May Park - look for our table! Board members will also be available during the sizing days to answer any questions you may have.
In addition to the above opportunities your athlete may also attend attend our camp in July (more info HERE). This camp is a great opportunity to get an early peek into the football program and what to expect for the season.
How does HYAA select their coaches?
All coaches are required to submit an application and are interviewed by the HYAA Board prior to selection. Background checks are performed on all coaches and sideline coach volunteers (i.e., parents and volunteers that want to help out and assist with practices and games, but are not serving as head or assistant coach).
