FOREST HILLS GIRLS LACROSSE-SPRING SEASON
Forest Hills Girls Lacrosse Club offers the opportunity for girls in the K-2 grades to play lacrosse! The focus of the program is to introduce the girls to the basic concepts and fundamental skills of the game, with an emphasis on doing so in a manner that encourages the girls to continue playing. Practice is held twice per week. One day is devoted to running drills, while the other day is generally reserved for scrimmages (the youth program will have multiple teams).
In order to practice, the following equipment is required (sorry, no exceptions):
- Lacrosse stick (girls)
- Mouth guard (must fully cover the upper jaw teeth, and be other than white or clear)
- Goggles (must be for girls’ lacrosse and manufactured to ASTM standards)
A portion of the registration fee pays for a shirt. No jewelry should be worn during practice. Rubber-cleated shoes are recommended.
At the practices, the girls will be divided into teams. In previous years, there were a couple K/1st/2nd grade teams. They all practice together Your daughter will be WITH their friend or playing AGAINST their friend in little games and scrimmages. One big happy LAX family!
Practice will proceed rain or shine except in the event of thunderstorms or snow. Make sure girls are dressed appropriately for the weather. Parents are encouraged to make sure that the girls have a water bottle.
Parents are an integral part of our program. We are always looking for parents to coach and serve as team managers. Please give consideration to supporting the girls by volunteering. If you are interested, contact Suzanne Callahan.
Practices are typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00. The first practice will be held mid April, with the last practice at the end of May.
The K-2 program is truly a learn to play program focused on learning how to scoop the ball and pass. Scrimmages will be common but there will not be lots of games.
Practices will be held at the field at Forest Hills Eastern south of the driveway from Pettis (affectionately known as the Cow Pasture).
