During the winter, the plan is to hold practices under the lights at Cardiff Sports Park sometime after 5 pm. We will move practices to Encinitas Community Park sometime during the spring when the sun stays up longer. The practices will most likely be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For older age groups (14+) there may also be a third practice per week, e.g., Wednesdays.

Games are normally scheduled on Saturdays.

The tradition is that the hosting team offers food to the visiting team and shares a meal after the game.

  • Before receiving gear kit: full refund minus $20 (administration cost)
  • Before first game: 50%
  • After first game: No refunds

Note for girls

Girls can play with boys up to and including U12. To encourage more girls to play rugby, there is girls-only activities, see girls.cdrugby.com. Coastal Dragons Rugby plans to fields girls teams at all levels: GU14, GU16, GU18.

Note for BU16, GU16, BU18, and GU18

There are some High Schools that offer rugby as a school sport. The club rugby (as in Coastal Dragons Rugby Club) begins after the High School rugby season finishes in the end of February. We may hold a practice mid February before high-school finishes for those who do not play in high-school. Also note that the registration fee is different based on whether you played for a high-school or not. The reason is that some high school players are already registered with USA rugby for the year so the club does not need to pay this fee, which is reflected in our registration fees.
