Cannons Select Lacrosse was formed in 2006 by Joe Casalino (Northern HS Varsity Coach) and and Vic Goeller (Huntingtown HS Varsity Coach) to offer local quality lacrosse players a place to play together during the off season and to prepare them for high school play and beyond. Since its creation, the Cannons Select Lacrosse program has continued to grow not only in number of players but also in age levels offered. The Cannons have fielded teams beginning at the U5 Chasers level up to High School Varsity. There is a Cannons Classic Mens Masters team that continues to travel across the country to play in competitive mens' lacrosse events. Our teams are generally graduation year based, but we do field age-based teams at the U9 and U7 levels.
Cannons alumni have earned distinction as players at their area high school and at the college level. Our HS players have played major roles at area high schools, such as Northern, Huntingtown, La Plata, Calvert, Calverton, St. Mary's Ryken, St John's College HS, DeMatha, Paul VI, Gonzaga, and McDonogh of Baltimore among others and are actively recruited to play at Division I, Division II, and Division III colleges. We even have players currently coaching at the college and high school levels. Watching our players graduate from our program and continue making a difference to lacrosse players and programs throughout the country is amazing! This is an exciting time to be a Cannon and we are so proud of each of our current players and alumni!

Cannons Select Lacrosse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates under a pay-to-play policy. There are fees for participation in all Cannons Select Lacrosse activities, including league play and tournaments. Every player must pay the associated fees at the time of registration for all events and will not be considered registered for the events until payment is received by the Treasurer of the Cannons Select organization. Players who have not registered or paid in full will not be permitted to participate in the events until payment is received or agreed upon payment plan is in place. At the time of registration, payment may be made in full or through a payment plan. Available payment plans vary depending on the amount of the fee and the time between registration and the start of the season or event. Cannons Select Lacrosse reserves the right to determine for which teams and/or events it is practical to offer a payment plan option. The payment plans offered will ensure all registration fees are received prior to completion of the season.

The Cannons Select Lacrosse program follows a “no refund” policy. All Cannons Select teams and schedules are planned and budgeted based on a budgeted number of players on each team. During registration, players are offered roster spots on teams. Once a player “accepts” a roster space on a team, that slot is considered filled (or “sold”) for the registration period offered and the player is responsible for the full payment designated. Once a team is full, it is considered full and all other applicants are released. Some teams will under enroll at registration to allow space for late registrations later in the year. The Cannons program offers supplemental tryouts and rolling admission for those open roster spaces throughout the year.

Cannons Select Lacrosse is a nonprofit organization and our Board of Directors and most of our Cannons coaches are volunteers. To fulfill our mission of offering a quality select lacrosse program at an affordable price and to maintain our Cannons' lit Bermuda grass field, the Cannons Select organization offers business and personal sponsorships throughout the year and on occasion will hold a fundraising event. We are not an organization that promotes multiple pizza and candy sales. Our Annual Bull & Oyster Roast is the all time favorite FRIENDraising event that also offers a FUNDraising side. It is an all-adult event offering our Cannons parents and friends an opportunity to have some adult fun and celebrate our lacrosse community. During the event, our Silent Auction, Money Wheel fun, and 50/50 raffles offer an opportunity to raise funds while having a great time. The memories from this event last for years! Without strong participation from our current families, alumni, and supporters, our yearly registration fees would significantly increase. Our Board works hard to manage spending to keep costs affordable and to keep any fundraising to a minimum.
