16U COACHES

PCIM DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY OPERATIONS / 16U TIER 2 HEAD COACH / 10U TRAVEL HEAD COACH
Mike Adamek

Mike has been involved in hockey for over 25 years. His playing career included: 4 years at NCAA Division 1 Lake Superior State in Michigan, 4 years of Junior A hockey in the USHL and NAHL and nearly 100 professional games with the Boise Steelheads, Utah Grizzlies and Tulsa Oilers. He has been coaching at the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels for over 10 years. Mike has a passion for coaching youth hockey and currently serves as the Park City Ice Miners 16U Tier 2 Coach, the 10U Travel Head Coach and the Hockey Director for the Park City Ice Miners.

Mike was assistant coach for the 16U Tier 2 team and head coach for the 10U D1 White team during the 2020-2021 season.
16U TIER 2 ASSISTANT COACH
Karter Kovar

Originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karter got his start playing for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders development program. After Karter's family relocated to Park City, Karter played up and was part of the PC Ice Miners team that won the 2016 U16 State Championship, led by his current coaching partner, Mike Adamek. He played two years of varsity hockey as a middle schooler before moving to play at the AAA/Tier 1 level. Karter was called up to skate with multiple junior teams, but wants everyone to know he “got sent home from a lot of junior teams as well.”

Last March Karter had knee surgery and is now focused on developing the next generation of players. He aims to be a positive role model on and off the ice. He preaches the value of being the hardest worker on (and off) the ice and preparing for games physically and mentally. Karter is excited for the upcoming season and can’t wait to get back on the ice with the team.

Karter was assistant coach for the 16U Tier 2 team during the 2020-2021 season.
